Accepted. It’s very easy to type and hit send and have regret. I have done it plenty of times myself. In this thread, in fact.

Maybe if they cut some of their own cushy perks, they could extend unemployment for a while ....

Watch the welfare rolls increase by 2% overnight.

I was fortunate. Found a job this past week after being out for 15 of the last 30 months. Thing is I had to leave my family and travel halfway across the country for a temp job.

Not happy about it but I did what I had to do.

Are you joking? You are telling ME this????

When you are unemployed, you have more time for introspection than ever.

No offense, but perhaps that is what YOU need.

I’m simply referring to your economic philosophy:

You seek confident consumers through an artificial security blanket. That’s fantasy land economics seeking an immunity to fear.

The problem with people like you is that you vastly underestimate the power of fear in this economy, even with people who have jobs. The economy will not grow as long as people are fearful....I am not sure you even care though.

BTW, do you have any idea how much of the economy is “artificial”????? $12 Billion is unacceptable, yet people like you were silent when the banks were bailed out with Trillions, even though they caused this mess.

You sure know me, don’t you? /sarc. People can check my profile and saved links to see how spot-on your accusations are, Sherlock.

excellent point! for those in Congress who want to extend the benefits, they can "sacrifice" just a little of their perks and benefits--that would show how much they really care... they aren't hurting during this difficult time...

Okay, let me qualify that statement.....people here were less vociferous with the bank bailouts than they are with UI.

Very well said. Hubby just got hired after looking for work for the last year. It is only parttime. I wonder how many freepers now the reality of the new job search. Where everything is online and filtered through agencies which scan the applications for key words to determine what pile the app goes to. Oh hell it is done by computers. So if they want to filter out all men over 50 you go inot the reject pile. Your qualifications have nothign to do with it. Your credit in the tank because you have been out of work and are behind on your bills? Tough cookie into the reject pile you go. Unemployed for over a certain length of time? Into the reject pile you go. So even if you are qualified for a job you may not meet the predetermined criteria and you are tough out of luck.

I agree the extension must have a funding source and that is what those who voted believe as well. I have no doubt that there is funding available as has been expressed by several Republicans. There must also be an end to the hostility towards small business. No one is going to risk job creation when doing so costs them too much.
