When Will The President and the Attorney General Appear To Take Questions
Hugh Hewitt.com ^ | November 18,2010 | Hugh Hewitt

Outrage is growing at the intersection of ideology and incompetence that is the jury's collapse in the trial of Ahmed Ghailani, declared acquitted in the murders of 224 innocents, including a dozen Americans.

The outrage is growing as Americans learn more and more about how utterly avoidable this outrageous miscarriage of justice was. John Podhoretz's and Jennifer Rubin's criticisms are among the most pointed and both employ the damning word "debacle" in the title, and Powerline's Scott Johnson and John Hinderaker weigh in with "The Failure Option." Eric Holder who repeatedly declared his confidence in this process should resign and the president should apologize to the nation and especially to the families of the victims whose killed now has been declared not guilty

An email from an individual very experienced in federal criminal proceedings comments:

This smells like a compromise verdict to me. On Monday you had the report that a juror asked to be excused, claiming she was the lone holdout and she feared continuing verbal assaults on her by the other jurors for refusing to agree with them.

I suspect the 11 jurors wanted to convict on all counts, and this one juror refused.

In order to reach a verdict, the 11 jurors agreed to join her in acquitting him on all counts but one, in exchange for her agreeing to convict him on the one count -- which sounds the least serious based on its description in the indictment.

But, the potential sentence for that count is a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of life. Its up to the district judge to determine how much time he will give him, and the judge can consider all the evidence at trial, including the evidence on the acquitted counts.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday predicted that professed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will be convicted and executed, as U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified in the Senate to defend the strategy of civilian trials for the alleged Sept. 11 plotters.

Responding to concerns from some Republicans, Obama added that that the U.S. criminal court system will be able to handle the trials.

"(What) I think we have to break is this fearful notion that somehow our justice system can't handle these guys," Obama said.

Obama got the verdict he wanted. Obama voters need to decide whether this is the “leader” we want for six more years or only for two more years of embarrassment and misery.

When Obie takes questions he appears to take questions. They never really take questions...

The only problem I have with this is that when asked a question, the President takes a half hour to answer the question. This cuts down on the amount of questions that can be asked in a given time. Asking him questions is a waste of time.

Sounds like 11 jurors blew it by caving in to one obvious nut case America hater. If the judge is a true blue American patriot, he will impose maximum sentence on the one count, though the death sentence is what he deserves. But what are the chances of a federal judge acting in America's best interest?

....”a juror asked to be excused, claiming she was the lone holdout and she feared continuing verbal”

....I’d bet my bottom dollar that this lone juror was NOT Anglo/European-Judeo/Christian.

On a posting regarding the TSA groping debacle a poster argued that this Muslim Terrorist Not Guilty Verdict was just an attempt by Obama to take attention away from the TSA debacle.

No, I believe we are going to get a steady dose of Obama screw ups for the next two years.

When the Chicago Tribune editorial board writers start criticizing Obama you know Obama is in deep doo-doo.

Which in reality means what? He gets three square meals a day, a nice gymnasium to pump iron, hours of Koran study, a confined audience to proselytize, and release in -- what? -- about three years?

Note the coverage by the MSM: with the exception of Fox, the networks and the NYT are referring to a “mixed” verdict. You know, you win some and you lose some.

What a travesty. What a blatant attempt to deflect criticism of Holder and Obama. This evil scumbag was acquitted of every murder count, all 200 and more, and was only convicted on the lightest of charges against him, conspiracy to damage a government building.

How is this in any sense a “mixed” verdict when a mass murderer gets away with murder?

The depths of the depravity and decadence in this administration and their enablers in the MSM always continues to astonish. Every time you believe they could not be more inept and corrupt they manage to establish a new benchmark of cupidity.

"But what are the chances of a federal judge acting in America's best interest?"

Not very good.
The federal government is a far greater enemy of America than the terrorists.

Don’t be surprised if he sues and becomes a millionaire, writes a book, becomes a multimilionaire and gets out of jail on probation in a few months. Justice is perverted.

How ironic that on this thread Hugh Hewitt is used just under the Romney is evil header. We all know that Hugh is a huge Romney guy, will his great articles be banned on FR if Romney becomes the nominee ?
