Dont the new government mandated light bulbs contain mercury? The newer ones have a lot less than the first ones, but still have some.

However the new CFL bulbs still are manufactured in China, the lend of 'quality fade' that has no problem putting plastic in pet food, antifreeze in cough medicine and tooth paste, and lead and cadmium in children's jewelry and toys.

The newer ones have a lot less than the first ones, but still have some. All of those lamps make sure that all of the mercury inside is vaporized while the bulb operates. So, when the glass breaks, the mercury is sure to completely disperse into the atmosphere of the room.
The mercury in batteries can't get out unles you deliberately cut the metal container.
