Actually, Sitting Bull was not a terrorist or an insurgent. He was fighting a defensive war in defense of his country. While Custer was an egotistical ass wipe. I didn't see the book but maybe he got this part right.

Well, I can argue with him on this.
Custer was a stupid, arrogant @$$hole who led his men to their deaths. If he’d just followed his orders (or just remembered to bring his sabers and Gatling guns), instead of being a glory hound, it might have turned out better.
