President Obamas defeats did not just start with the 2010 midterm election results. They started in December 2008, when President-elect Obama said deficits dont matter. Well, he discovered that deficits do matter, because the American people were paying attention. They overwhelmingly rejected the runaway spending of this administration and this Democrat-controlled Congress.
President Obama suffered another loss when the nearly $1 trillion stimulus spending bill did not stimulate anything but more government jobs, while the unemployment rate went up and stayed up. The American people knew we could not spend our way to prosperity, but the president ignored that fact.
President Obama also discovered reluctantly that the American people do not like unpopular legislation shoved down their throats. Many of the members of Congress who walked the plank for Obama to pass health care deform legislation were sent into early retirement, which resulted in Republican control of the House of Representatives.
Now the big debate going into the lame duck session of Congress with spilt control of Congress is whether the existing tax rates will be extended for all, extended for no one, or extended for only those making less than $250,000 per year per couple. The latter is the position of the president.
If he prevails and the rates are set for a limited period of time, the uncertainty for private sector businesses will only be extended for that same period of time. Tax rates need to be made permanent in order to reduce economic uncertainty.
If the president agrees to make the tax rates permanent for everybody as the Republicans are proposing, he would be truly acting in the best interest of the American people for the first time in his presidency. If he does, I will be among the first to applaud his decision.
But if he chooses to let the tax rates expire for all income brackets as a political move because the Republicans will not support his tax the rich proposal, this economy will go into a further tail spin and he will blame it on the Republicans.
Fifty percent of those making over $250,000 a year are small business owners. This means the economy would stall even more and the unemployment rate would go higher. Just like the Obama Administration did not think the stimulus spending would fail, they do not believe that raising taxes on the job creators will backfire and negatively affect the economy.
Rather than sending this economy into a full scale depression if tax rates go up for everybody, I say let Obama win one! We would only have to endure these failed policies and this economic insanity for another two years. Some businesses will not be able to survive because they are barely surviving today. But many businesses would find a way to hold on until we make a change in control of the Senate and the White House.
The presidents passage of the health care bill was not a victory. It was a resounding defeat, because the majority of Americans did not agree with it and the disagreement grows stronger day by day as people discover more and more of whats in the bill as Nancy Pelosi proclaimed before it was passed.
The stimulus spending bill has been a resounding failure. Just ask those members of Congress who did not mention it in their re-election defeat campaigns.
Even the president described the 2010 midtern elections as a shellacking. Hes right. Lets hope he learned something. If not, let him win one on extension of the tax rates and tell the people what to expect.
We can expect more economic pain until there is a change in the White House.
I understand his point. This is exactly what Obama doesnt want to happen, those taxes go up and he get the blame again. What Obama wants is to pass all the tax cuts then say Republicans blackmailed him. Then when the economy doesnt get better, and the the debt climbs, he is not the sole owner of the mess. He knows what killed Rats in 2010 was being the owner of the economy. In short, Obama wants to let Republicans win this one and cry victim.
Letting the other guy ‘win’ is tricky business, like throwing a fight. You lose if it is known that you threw it. Congressional Democrats are already proposing upping the limit to 1 Million to make it look better politically to raise some taxes(voters will be much less sympathetic to 'millionares').
I disagree with Herman on this one. 0 didn't discover anything. He thinks we idiots who aren't as smart as he is just don't understand what he's doing with the deep insight granted by being a community organizer into what makes America work.
Ah, but the American people won't blame Republicans, Mr. Cain. It will be seen as yet another attack on business, as private sector players now see that the "rich" are our economy's employers, investors-the ones who sign the checks. America has made the connection now that liberal policies have been put into action, between hammering the "wealthy" and low growth, IMHO.
If I'm wrong, then you're right, but I think this election shows people see capitalism as too fragile for government to deploy punitive taxes on those who have the capital to put at risk.
Herman has said several times on his show that he believes Obama’s actions are not a result of incompetence but are on purpose - he is a lot more blunt about these things on his show (and in his speeches) than in his writing.
I love the comment make the tax rates permanent....no Congress can do that, furture ones always have the option of raising or lowering at their whim.
As far as giving him any issue, just say NO.

He is talking about the Bush tax cuts (he calls them rates).
Herman is actually a Fair Tax advocate - has been for years.
He got that right. Dems sealed their fate by bitterly clinging to O/Care. Obama, Pelosi
and Bill Clinton said O/Care would boost their reelection, and the idiots believed them.
The happy couple---united by O/Care.
I fully agree with this. Let Obama have this and then keep the spotlight pointed on his decision as the pain persists. The 2012 election results will then be far worse for the thug party than the 2008 elections.
Of course they are. 0 knows what's best for everyone, and if doubt my statement just ask him or any of his toadies. The MSM's relationship with 0 reminds me of the most revolting movie I've ever heard of a dutch horror film called "the human centepede"

No.
The trouble with most Democrat politicians, and even many Republican ones, is that they are still operating under the beliefs held more than 50 years ago. That is,they still look at Americans as though most are too busy with their own lives, are not college educated, are women in the homes with no interest in the world, are out in the fields, or are just too dense to understand complex policies, and they figure they can hoodwink us. They operate as though what they do, as the "all knowing" crowd in DC, can be pushed through Congress with little opposition from the American public, because we will just trust that they know what is best for us. That line of thought is what they have held onto for ages.
They forget...most Americans are now very good at research, having attended college and learned how to source out, compare, and evaluate information. Thousands of Americans have as good an education, or better, than most politicians - and many of us went to school with them, learned the same principles, and studied the same subjects...so we "ain't" so dumb anymore. Most Americans have found a place to voice their opinions - either through the Internet; movements like the TEA Party, etc. and are not quieted by propaganda and empty platitudes. Most Americans can dissect a speech and find that nearly all politicians say absolutely nothing, but love to sound like they know something (the current White House resident being the prime example).
In essence, the crowd that Washington speaks to today is much more aware than the tricksters in office want to recognize it for being. Washington wants to keep Americans on the level of third graders who need their Mommy politicians to take care of them and tell them what is good and right for them. That no longer applies.
What is funny is that ALL politicians promote higher education and getting a college degree as the most important thing for Americans. Yet, they do not want to accept that since we have become educated, as they promoted should happen, we now can figure out how they are and have been hoodwinking us for many years!
The electorate has become more knowledgeable than the elected, and the DC gang just cannot comprehend, or accept that.
unless the muzzcomm has created the 'perfect' forgeries of all its docs, i doubt there was ever a plan for an 012' run, so everything done, everyday, is based on crippling its 'enemy' and enrichin itself for the future globull economy ...
if the new CONgress doesnt start playin hardball on day one, the sand will quickly run thru the glass...
I am not saying his strategy will work, but I am pretty sure that Cain is talking about a strategy to beat Obama here, not to get along. A good way to think of it was McCain losing to Obama, that led to the Dems being rejected this past election. If McCain somehow won 2008 then 2010 would have been the third Republican wave loss.
In some ways politics is like economics.
Mr. Cain is under no such illusion. He is on the radio night after night talking about the danger of Obama and his policies, as well as traveling the country speaking to tea parties about the same.
Thank you - I’m glad you also get what is being said here.
Make Obama “OWN” this disaster - all the way to 2012.
