The Pink Swastika is a powerful exposure of pre-World War II Germany and its quest for reviving and imitating a Hellenistic-paganistic idea of homo-eroticism and militarism.
Dr. Mordechai Nisan, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
"Freedom" is a non-issue when it comes to the military. You check your "freedoms" at the door the day your decide to join a voluntary military force -- you no longer wear what you want, say what you want, do what you want, or go where you want -- you voluntarily hand those freedoms over to Uncle Sam in order to serve your country.
The military mission -- to best protect the country -- is and should be the only criteria for any military policy. Nothing else should matter.
If I recall correctly, there is a study on DADT & the potential effects of repealing it, due out next month. Whatever my personal opinions, one direction or another based on my morality, are irrelevant. To me, it should all come down to objectively assess how to best accomplish the mission of best protecting the country. The military is one of the worst possible places to turn into a petrie dish -- or grandstand.
