Avoid Social Issues, GOP Urged (Homosexualists, Pro-Aborts Co-opt Tea Party Movement)
Politico ^ | Sunday, November 14, 2010 | Ben Smith and Byron Tau

Posted on 11/14/2010 3:38:40 PM PST by kristinn

A gay conservative group and some Tea Party leaders are campaigning to keep social issues off the Republican agenda.

In a letter to be released Monday, the group GOProud and leaders from groups like the Tea Party Patriots and the New American Patriots, will urge Republicans in the House and Senate to keep their focus on shrinking the government.

"On behalf of limited-government conservatives everywhere, we write to urge you and your colleagues in Washington to put forward a legislative agenda in the next Congress that reflects the principles of the Tea Party movement," they write to presumptive House Speaker John Boehner and Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell in an advance copy provided to POLITICO. "This election was not a mandate for the Republican Party, nor was it a mandate to act on any social issue."

The letter's signatories range from GOProud's co-founder and Chairman Christopher Barron — a member of a group encouraging Dick Cheney to run for president and who has been known to post images of his bare torso to Twitter — to Tea Party leaders with no particular interest in the gay rights movement.

As of Sunday evening, the letter had 17 signatories. They include tea party organizers, conservative activists and media personalities from across the country, including radio host Tammy Bruce, bloggers Bruce Carroll, Dan Blatt and Doug Welch, and various local coordinators for the Tea Party Patriots and other tea party groups.

"When they were out in the Boston Harbor, they weren't arguing about who was gay or who was having an abortion," said Ralph King, a letter signatory who is a Tea Party Patriots national leadership council member, as well as an Ohio co-coordinator.

King said he signed onto the letter because GOProud seemed to be genuine in pushing for fiscal conservatism and limited government.

"Am I going to be the best man at a same sex-marriage wedding? That's not something I necessarily believe in," said King. "I look at myself as pretty socially conservative. But that's not what we push through the Tea Party Patriots."

That indifference is essentially the point of the gay conservative group.

TEXT OF LETTER

Dear Senator McConnell and Representative Boehner

On behalf of limited government conservatives everywhere we write to urge you and your colleagues in Washington to put forward a legislative agenda in the next Congress that reflects the principles of the Tea Party movement.

Poll after poll confirms that the Tea Party’s laser focus on issues of economic freedom and limited government resonated with the American people on Election Day. The Tea Party movement galvanized around a desire to return to constitutional government and against excessive spending, taxation and government intrusion into the lives of the American people.

The Tea Party movement is a non-partisan movement, focused on issues of economic freedom and limited government, and a movement that will be as vigilant with a Republican-controlled Congress as we were with a Democratic-controlled Congress.

This election was not a mandate for the Republican Party, nor was it a mandate to act on any social issue, nor should it be interpreted as a political blank check.

Already, there are Washington insiders and special interest groups that hope to co-opt the Tea Party’s message and use it to push their own agenda – particularly as it relates to social issues. We are disappointed but not surprised by this development. We recognize the importance of values but believe strongly that those values should be taught by families and our houses of worship and not legislated from Washington, D.C.

We urge you to stay focused on the issues that got you and your colleagues elected and to resist the urge to run down any social issue rabbit holes in order to appease the special interests.

The Tea Party movement is not going away and we intend to continue to hold Washington accountable. Sincerely,

Christopher R Barron

You think GOProud and the homosexual activists who wrote/signed this letter will only focus on the economy?   What they're saying is DON'T OPPOSE GoProud's AGENDA.

THEY are the immoral miscreants who helped deconstruct the moral framework of this country in the first place - ushering in a "Fiscal" morality that included generation of 100..700 Trillion dollars worth of derivative a$$paper founded upon fraudulent LIAR Loans.

It was just a "little" desensitization, just a "little" lie,  just a "little" demoralization ----  Everybody does it, Right?
"What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization"...."

This is a classic example of the Marxist's Cloward Pliven strategy of economic "recovery" - CREATE a crisis, economic and otherwise -- and then propose the solution to that crisis.

Fiscal Crisis requires a one-sided "Fiscally Conservative" solution - while social issues are ignored, right? WRONG.

“sodomites, taxers, baby killers and Mormons”

Im not a mormon, and i think Mitt is another variation of Bernake, Gietner, Goldman Sachs,, etc. That said, It’s not warranted to include any Mormon i’ve ever met in that list. They live a clean moral life as far as ive ever seen.

>>Those immoral behaviors will not directly affect me

But the demoralization of society DOES affect you.

Observe those individuals who falsified their income on FRAUDULENT Liar Loans - and CAUSED the financial crisis.

Who demoralized them and taught them it’s ok to Lie?

“Fiscal Conservatives” and their sociopathological comrades in the left wing of The Party(tm), that’s who.

I would agree with this approach if one thing is left on the “social agenda”: giving more power to local and state governments by diminishing federal authority across the board.

The federal government should have as little authority as possible when it comes to social issues. If GOProud and these tea party folks don’t get that then we’ve got a serious bone to pick with them.

The colonists didn’t have government promoted sodomy and abortion.

Plus, note the comment above - the writers of this letter are mostly “gay” activists.

You want to side with pushers of the homosexual agenda?

It's not that conservatives are aggressively going after lesbians and gays. It's that lesbians an gays (or rather, Gay activist pressure groups) have been aggressively after Entitlements, Benefits, SUbsidies, Perks, Promotion and Enforceable Preschool-to-Postgraduate Pride for about 40 years now.

Privacy? If only...!

Where have you been, by the way?

Libertarianism is just another pipe dream utopian fantasy based on infantilism, in a long line of similiar pipe dreams that have never, and will never, work in real life.

And the funny thing is, when such utopian fantasies are tried, they one and all create the worst Hell on earth.

“It’s the gays who want the state to define marriage to be between a man and another man”

At the founding of America, did marriage require government licenses? I personally believe it’s time for government to come under extreme scrutiny. Every act they now perform should be harshly examined to see if it is the legitimate function of ANY government. Although i agree with their morals, it’s sad to see so many “conservatives” thrilled with government in every corner of our lives, as long as they are in charge.

Agree with that.  Every statute - existing and future - should be subject to sunset and review.

Only those consistent with the specified purpose for American governance should be kept.

That’s a steaming pile of BS.

When your Ron Paul-inspired claptrap about marriage is mentioned in mixed company, in other words, where radical gay activists are present, they stand up and cheer. I’ve seen it. They know they’ve won if that’s public policy. They’ve destroyed the institution of marriage.

And if you divide this country over something so morally fundamental as marriage, you’ve done tremendous damage to the UNITED States of America.

The utter destruction of our economy is hardly a roof shingle. The Fed has stolen about 95% of the dollars value since it’s creation. That is THE problem with America.

Let me clue you in, eternal deficit spending and the creation of fiat money was done for exactly one reason, to finance the progressive revolution you claim to be fighting.

If you truly want to end Abortion, and a host of social issues that seem to be hurting us, then a return to constitutional government is the broad spectrum drug to kill ALL these infections.

What is demonstrated to be ineffective is fighting issue by issue,, drugs here, national health care there, gays here, abortion there.

Ever notice, as you struggle to put out one fire, another flares up? Thats not an accident FR friend. It’s the design. Turn off the gas well at the pipline, and the leaks and fires all die out.

Like most who have [obviously] been influenced by Libertarian cant, you can’t discern the difference between lawful power exercised in defense of natural RIGHT and power exercised against the people’s natural rights. It’s sad.

What set of restrictiveness rules? You mean like excluding mentally ill sexual miscreant sociopaths from acquiring military power? Historical evidence indicates THAT might be a reasonably good idea

"Freedom" is a non-issue when it comes to the military. You check your "freedoms" at the door the day your decide to join a voluntary military force -- you no longer wear what you want, say what you want, do what you want, or go where you want -- you voluntarily hand those freedoms over to Uncle Sam in order to serve your country.

The military mission -- to best protect the country -- is and should be the only criteria for any military policy. Nothing else should matter.

If I recall correctly, there is a study on DADT & the potential effects of repealing it, due out next month. Whatever my personal opinions, one direction or another based on my morality, are irrelevant. To me, it should all come down to objectively assess how to best accomplish the mission of best protecting the country. The military is one of the worst possible places to turn into a petrie dish -- or grandstand.

[2) Go back and do some research on the various Tea Party organization’s official platforms.]

You mean like the American First Principles written in stone on the walls of the Jefferson Monument?

Been there, read that.

Also read the legislation Jefferson proposed to castrate sodomizers.

So again — NO SALE, TWIT.
