Shortcomings in Republican efforts during the elections are a reason Michael Steele should not continue as chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), a senator said in an interview Sunday.
"Our ground game, was not as strong as it could've been. We were outmanned on the ground," Sen. Jim DeMint said on Fox New Sunday.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said Steele should be ousted because Republicans could have done a better job reaching voters.

I'm not sure whether he said that in so many words, but, I would agree with the sentiment of the headline.
Here are some other posts about him:
Why I'm Running for RNC Chairman (Saul Anuzis)
Steele draws challenger for GOP chairman
I think the RNC could do far, far worse than Saul Anuzis. In fact, BQ, I'm almost confident that they will...
It seems “you have no idea” about modern politics or how they're conducted. Thanks for playing.
You might say we did well in spite of his efforts to torpedo the party.
Dumping Steele would be like dumping a coach because his team lost in the Super Bowl. Never mind that he GOT to the Super Bowl - he could have done better!
And like it or not, this election was not won because of republicans turning out. It was won because the a large section of the huge middle/moderate independent block was convinced the Republican Party and it's candidates were more in line with their feelings and aspirations than the RATS. You don't build a bigger congregation merely by preaching to the already converted. Like it or not, winning elections depends on tapping into the ocean of moderate Americans - and Steele does it better than any previous chairman, IMHO.
But lets form the usual circular firing squad, shun all but the purest of pure conservatives - and get Obama a second term. Right now I'll take a sane moderate who can win in place of a “pure conservative” who hands Obama another term.
RNC chair Sarah Palin...
I’m fine with Michael Steele, but thats a valid point the RNC ground game was weak in a lot of states in a lot of areas namely Nevada if the ground game is expanded to include ain’t fraud operations.
LMFAO.
Keep dreaming, buddy.
Huh??? Who is that supposed to be????
Presumably, you mean some Log Cabin Republicans that desire low taxes.
Hey, inMaryland, I’m in Maryland too. I agree that Steele did a great job. I just get beat up so bad here when I say so. I really think he is more conservative than most realize. He’s the original author of the expression “Drill, baby, drill.” Besides, Sarah travelled with him on the Fire Pelosi bus — and if he’s a good enough conservative for her, he’s better than good enough for me.
(But don’t tell anyone I said ANY of this, OK? I just get clobbered here at FR when directly stick up for Steele. And I do LOVE FR.)
I’m not a bit surprised you come out against Palin.
During the next two years, there will be many posters here whose only objective (though they pretend otherwise) is to talk her down because they know she is socialism’s worst enemy.
