Climate catastrophe? The end of civilization as we know it? The new documentary, “Cool It,” tries to cut through the fog of the alarmists and get some real answers. The film features among its scientists friends of Heartland Richard Lindzen of MIT, Freeman Dyson of Princeton and Paul Reiter of the Pasteur Institute.

For the time being — since Lomborg is opposing the socialists who want to control our lives using global warming as a lever — perhaps we can give him a pass, eh?

Dude. Maybe the globe is warming. Evidence suggests that we're in a long-term global warming trend. Or, perhaps, that has ended, and we're in for another "Little Ice Age" as happened for quite a while and ended just before the Civil War.

That's not even the point. Why rip a guy who is ripping down Al Gore? This is a process that needs nourishing. Let's wait a while to shoot the wounded in this debate.

Lomborg might advocate spending "global money" to bring clean water to the world. People can agree or disagree that such a project is worthy. But this is a fact: It's a lot cheaper (and sensible) than reordering society in a real socialist/Marxist/Communist bent on a fraud.

Stop the real socialist project that has gained legs for decades. Battle the fish-in-a-barrel socialism that Lomborg might advocate once we beat back the hoards he's helping us fight.

Lindzen was one of the 1st papers I ran across (2-3 years ago) blew me away for his courage speaking out against idea carbon dioxide caused “global warming.” A good film to counteract the gorefest would be useful. Can’t tell if this is it.

Oh man...you don’t get it. It’s slick propaganda. Do you not know who Lomborg is? Do you not see what he is doing? He’s pushing for mitigation of carbon dioxide with renewable energy.

Wind and solar. Heavily subsidized with your tax money. Who wins if that happens? I’ll tell you. Al Gore and his green investement companies.

And Bjorn Lomborg. Lomborg only cares about Lomborg. You can’t trust him.

I’ve met Lindzen in person. Great man. We shared a smoke. Thanks for reading, Bhoy.

The only way to save the Planet is to stamp out Socialism, Marxism and Communism.

I'm glad to have some "slick propaganda" on our side for a change, I got the rope. And if Lomborg is "in" on the Al Gore conspiracy while making a movie that humiliates him ... I want a piece of that.

Who would you rather battle: The Al Gore who had the Nobel Prize and Oscar win blowing wind in his sails, or the Al Gore after Lomborg and outfits like The Heartland Institute have discredited him? I'll take the latter.

Sounds like a mixed bag. Lindzen is excellent, and Lomborg's cost/benefit approach is devastating to the typical liberal who believes that he can save the planet by recycling his plastic bottles. Lomborg dismantled the environmentalists' case for the Kyoto Accords.

On the other hand, Lomborg's recent push for a huge carbon tax to fund green research is a terrible idea. The author of the article linked below calls it rathole economics.

I wish Richard Feynman was still available to weigh in on global warming, but this film has his old friend Freeman Dyson, who might do a good job.

Perhaps the film will be worth seeing.

I took a look at the film trailer. The film needs more fog lights to cut through the fog.

Lomborg is wrong on AGW: he wants to spend billions of tax dollars fighting a non-existent problem.

He is MUCH more sane and honest than Al Gore - and he has written works such as ‘The Skeptical Environmentalist’ which display scientific integrity and guts.

But he is not automatically right just because he’s not insane.

Heard him on Greata last night. He’s Al Gore Lite, and his ideas may be even more dangerous than Al’s.

I just watched the clip again. When I hear things like “...if even everyone drives a Prius, it will only cut what we need to cut (carbon dioxide?) by .5% by the end of the century...”, that is all I need to hear.

Evidence also suggests long term cooling trend. No one knows, and even if “the trend” is cooling or warming, no one knows the cause, and even if we know the cause, is global warming or cooling bad or good - no one knows.

Al Goreism is already being taken down with - just last week there were numerous articles about the fraud of his position, including benefits to some global warming and references to NATURAL climate change. People are slowly catching on, and they don’t need to fooled into more unproven theories leading to global control of humanity.

So, to replace a “super liar/shill/globalist/etc.”, with “just” a “liar/shill/globalist/etc.” makes no sense to me. Different face, slightly different terms and vehicles, but same destination. Sorry - that does not resonate with me.

Thanks for that link. Here is the full length NYT Magazine piece linked by HuffPo:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/magazine/29Dyson-t.html?_r=2&hp

It is a mini-biography, and not all that mini. The piece is overall very complimentary of Dyson, though his detractors are permitted to get in some digs.

Remarkable guy. I hope he talks about McIntyre & McKittrick's work in the film.
