Video posted on the CBS Los Angeles website shows an object flying through the evening sky Monday that left a large contrail, or vapor trail. While cruising the skies Monday at sunset, Sky2 captured on video what appears to be a missile making its way up into the sky from over the Pacific Ocean off the California coast.
Pentagon officials were stumped by the event. Nobody within the Department of Defense that weve reached out to has been able to explain what this contrail is, where it came from, Pentagon spokesman Col. Dave Lapan said.
Pentagon Says No Missile Behind Contrail: KNX 1070′s Charles Feldman Reports
While the vapor cloud captured on video resembled that created by a rocket in flight, military officials said they didnt know of any launches in the area.
Lapan said that all indications were that the Defense Department was not involved with the object.
One expert called it an optical illusion. Its an airplane that is heading toward the camera and the contrail is illuminated by the setting sun, said John Pike, director of the U.S.-based security analyst group globalsecurity.org.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, issued a statement jointly with the U.S. Northern Command, or NORTHCOM, saying that the contrail was not the result of a foreign military launching a missile. It provided no details.
We can confirm that there is no threat to our nation, the statement said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
NORTHCOM is the U.S. defense command and NORAD is a U.S.-Canadian organization charged with protecting the U.S. from the threat of missiles or hostile aircraft.
Pike said the object could not have been a rocket because it appeared to alter its course.
The local station chopped up the video and so its hard to watch it continuously, Pike said. But at one place you can see it has changed course rockets dont do that.
Pike said he didnt understand why the military had not recognized the contrail of an aircraft. The Air Force must understand how contrails are formed, he said. Why they cant get some major out to belabor the obvious, I dont know.
Judge for yourself by watching this raw video from Sky2.
Or have a closer look at some of the screen shots weve taken.
I’m not sure he’s even talking about a shadow cast by the moon. Hopefully we will get an answer from the OP.
The fact that nobody is taking responsibility or seeming to not know what it was says it all. Zero information, (we’re checking into that folks...”) means lips shut tight from all sectors and that is fine with me.
Amazing Interview: Air Force General says “Sub Launched Missile, 100% Certain”
Fox News Interview with Air Force General Tom McInerney | November 14th 2010 | Fox News Hannity Interview
Posted on Saturday, November 13, 2010 3:55:59 PM by DontTreadOnMe2009
Hannity was surprised to hear a famous ex Air Force General tell him That Is A Missile, Shot From A Submarine! I quote retired Air Force Lieutenant General Tom McInerney (ex commander of 11th Air Force in Alaska) I spent 35 years flying fighters, and you can see the guidance system kick in, I have watched that film 10 times, I am absolutely certain that that is not an aircraft, but a sub launch ICBM missile!!! See the video and judge his words for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LivRJOWrcpA&feature=player_embedded#! I will next post a clickable link.

The Lieut. General states most emphatically “I am absolutely certain that that is not an aircraft”.
Reporter adds: “I am not just hearing it from the General, I am hearing it from other sources too. It leaves me to wonder if NORAD knows what they are doing.”
Next, Hannity is amazed to hear another reporter say “It may be a toy rocket !!!”
“It could be a bunch a kids on a boat, pranking.”
(Laughable.)
The General then replies:
“If you go to any fighter squadron, Navy or Air Force, in the world today, they are going to agree with me...”
Note: He is a command pilot with more than 4,100 flying hours, including 407 combat missions during the Vietnam War. In addition to his Vietnam Service, Gen. McInerney served overseas in NATO; Pacific Air Forces, and as commander of 11th Air Force in Alaska. Currently, he is a Fox News contributor, and is a member of the Iran Policy Committee.
So, we now have:
1) The Editor at Jane’s Missile Magazine, Doug Richardson, saying: “Unmistakable missile, you can tell from the exhaust plume”.
2) The former Deputy Secretary of Defense, and former US Ambassador to NATO Robert Ellsworth saying “Spectacular; takes your breath away; that is an underwater sub launched ICBM missile!” and “Too big a smoke plume for the Taliban” (Gee, that’s good to know).
and now we have famed Lieutenant General Thomas G. McInerney saying the exact same thing, only more emphatically, on Fox News.
So:
Whose missile? For what purpose? Related to events in Korea? G-20 warning or reply from China?
Crazy NORKs ?
Why is the US government stone walling its own people?
Embarrassment? Know any military with inside news?
Will more information leak out in coming days from shocked staffers at the Pentagon and NORAD?
Everyone ...?
