The Pentagon Tuesday said it was trying to determine if a missile was launched Monday off the coast of Southern California and who might have launched it.

They have their best propagandists working on it. All that is left to do is the grammar and spell check. Oh, and loading it into the teleprompter if the clandestine Muslim is going to comment.
I have no idea what it was.. from the pics it sure looks like a missile. I dont for a second though believe the Pentagons bs they are spinning now that its probably a plane. I bet good money they know exactly what it was and just arent going to tell anyone. Shep actually said sometihng right yesterday when he said if satellites can take a pic of him picking his nose in his car, they damn well can identify what was shot into the sky.
Good Morning, any updates has this incident been swept under the bed now?
Fox News had a photo of a jet contrail shot over the Gulf of Mexico that looked almost identical to the one off of California. But never mind, the missile was shot by the same guys that downed TWA 800.
Here are some more missile launches, including one from the same place just a day after your launch!

The silence is deafening...
That is clearly a Boeing 777. /s
JUST A LARGER VERSION
So this would mean someone was filming before it was even noticeable. Right?
How likely is that?
BUt this AM some expert on Fox said it was an optical illusion or a contrail....
Mathias Rust (born July 1968 in Wedel, Schleswig-Holstein, West Germany) is a German man known for his illegal landing near Red Square in Moscow in 1987. As an amateur aviator, he flew from Finland to Moscow, being tracked several times by Soviet air defence and interceptors. The Soviet fighters never received permission to shoot him down, and several times he was mistaken for a friendly aircraft. He landed on Vasilevski Spusk next to Red Square near the Kremlin in the capital of the USSR.

Thanks for your feedback.
After a night’s sleep, this might have been one of those Navy actions where only a few crew members on the launch boat/ship knew what was going on.
If it was in that category, most of the flacks at the Pentagon wouldn’t know what was going on, and they could honestly say they don’t know what it was.
The launch would/might have been on a very limited need to know.
The latest story is that it’s a jet leaving a contrail in the sun.
It seems to me that the angle of ascent given by the contrail, and the known location of the camera, would make it a fairly simple math question determining where this jet originated and its identity.
In other words, the jet story is bunk if you don’t also hear its identity.
To say that a foreign sub did not get close to California is to assume that no nation has developed either a system on its subs to defeat our system or a new sub that is capable of penetrating our system.
If this were the case, that launch would be a warning from someone.
There are many nations that simply aren’t capable of such a thing. The list of those capable, secretive, and invested in giving first a warning, would probably be a short list.
Those even remotely capable, imho, would be: Russia, China, Israel, Britain, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, India, Brazil, Canada...can’t think of any others.
Those on the list with a reason to do so and a real capacity are even more limited.
And there’s always the possibility that some naval captain is going to be fired in the next few days for letting a trial launch get away from him.
“Maybe someone more knowledgeable that me can clear this up.”
They not only course correct but during one test we all though it had gone off course and was detonated, but the little sucker got back on course to resume a perfect impact of all warheads. (I spent many years in telemetry tracking systems.)
That might be true up until the time of launch. After that all bets are off. There is no way to discretely launch an SLBM. Everyone on the boat would know.
This is akin to running an active sonar or firing the main gun. Everyone on board knows what just happened, no matter where on the boat/ship they are.
BTW - Did anyone check NOTAMS for the Kwajalein Atoll range?

My dad was an old Nike man. I remember talking with him the week after 9/11. He kept shaking his head and repeating "They could never have done that when we were on guard. Maybe the first plane, but we'd have nailed the others." He was really frustrated by it.
I've seen a lot of contrails and a lot of missile launches. My unscientific opinion is that this was a missile launch. Maybe it is a covert op or a mistake that no one wants to admit, or a threat from someone else, or someone's expensive toy (I've seen some insanely powerful amateur rockets lately.)
You can add Taiwan and Argentina to the list, too.
