Pentagon Can't Explain "Missile" off California

Most airplane's contrails are horizontal.

Anyone have a good location for the news chopper as he was shooting the video? I am guessing the time as about 5:15pm local (PST). Trying to figure what flight it might be by establishing a better location.

I can't find a one. All the online "reports" use stills or just maybe one second of video.

It is horizontal. The airplane is at high altitude and the angle in relation to the camera is what makes the contrail look odd. The news camera was in the right place at the right time... or rather, the wrong place at the wrong time as they've launched a thousand tinfoil hatters. Further up or down the coast, people looked at the horizon and saw nothing out of the ordinary.

The first seven seconds make it pretty darn clear that the contrail is at high altitude. Note the dissipation of the contrail toward the horizon and I'm certain that you can see similar dissipation in high altitude contrails in your local area.

I looked at the video.

That was a big ass missile. My best guess is something on the order of a UGM-133A Trident II (D5).

Consider this photo of a Trident II launch from the USS Louisiana (SSBN-742) in the Pacific. Compare the size and density of the smoke trail even this early in the boost phase with the video of the mystery missile.

It was NOT an airplane contrail. It was NOT a small surface-to-air missile such as a Standard II.

Some location would be helpful, you're right. I haven't seen anything approaching an idea of direction. All I know is we can assume the camera is somewhere near LA.
