I don’t get the math. In order to bring the race to a tie using 31000 absentee ballots, Miller would need to win them 29000 to 2000. That’s a tall order, but I, too, am hoping to see it come to pass.

Suppose all 31000 absentee ballots go to Miller. Then he goes into the write-in count with a lead of 17500. So if Murkowski gets only 17499 valid write-ins out of 81000 possible, then Miller wins for sure. A few valid write-ins for Miller will pad his margin. We can always hope.

According to the "article", Miller's vote total is trailing "Write-in" by 13,500. 31,000 absentee ballots minus 13,500 equals 17,500. So Miller needs to obtain 17500 MORE votes from the absentee ballots than "Write-in".

I can tell that Math was not your subject in school Marylander. (LOL) I think you’re assuming that Lisa got all 81,000 Write-in Votes and that they are all valid. NO WAY!!! Joe currently has 67,500 votes. Lisa has NONE until the Absentee votes are counted which will probably give Joe another 18,000 votes which would total 85,500 votes for Miller, before they even begin to count the 81,000 Write-in votes; which will NOT all be for Murkie and be valid.

In order to bring the race to a tie using 31000 absentee ballots, Miller would need to win 13,500 of them with the Dem winning the rest.
