Last year, after George Will wrote a column criticizing Upton's and Harman's proposal to extend the incandescent-bulb ban to outdoor lighting, the two House members sent a letter to the Washington Post complaining about the column and defending their legislative campaign against the incandescent bulb. The CFC's do not work well in cold weather. Heck I have a lamp that the A/C blows on and you can watch the light physically dim when the cool air hits the bulb and when the A/C turns off the bulb slowly brightens. Anoying if you are reading by the lamp!

I wondered what caused that. My mother has one in her living room that constantly jumps from bright to dim and back every few minutes. It’s right next to the hallway so there must be a draft doing it.

"Heck I have a lamp that the A/C blows on and you can watch the light physically dim when the cool air..." Don't worry, Congress will "fix" that for you when then ban A/C.
