Christine O'Donnell and her victorious opponent in the Delaware senate race, Democrat Chris Coons, campaigned fiercely against each other during the midterms. But now they've buried the hatchet, quite literally.
The Tea Party darling and the senator-elect buried a hatchet actually, they put a small ax in a box of sand in the southern Delaware hamlet of Georgetown on Thursday, the AP reported (via The Huffington Post) in line with a time-honored state tradition.
As policies of Delaware state politics dictate, the senate race contenders took part in a ceremonial horse-drawn carriage and classic car parade, which preceded the hatchet burying.
The expression "to bury the hatchet" evolved from a Native American expression for peacemaking and, ceremonially at least, Coons and O'Donnell were cordial. "Coons gave a thumbs-up signal when asked how he and O'Donnell were getting along," the AP noted.
"Tradition!" -- Fiddler on the Roof
I saw this in the local press. I wanted to puke.
He is a filthy communist they get NO respect ever.
2 more years of the punk president’s escapades are going result in a lot of these axes being dug up and used.
it isn’t rove’s fault she got trounced. terrible candidate
What a useful way of viewing the matter.
So, whenever a less than conservative, establishment Republican wins a primary, every noted tea party figure with access to news media can come out and trash that candidate immediately following the election and for weeks thereafter. And with a clear conscience!
Thanks!
Christine has mikey castle’s scalp hanging in her den.
Turn him into a frog, O’Donnell.
"Castle would have beaten Coons", they wail. If Castle, who had no baggage, was a perfect candidate, and had excelent qualifications, as implied by Establishment Republicans could not beat her, who was "unqualified, a poor candidate, and had baggage" ,how could he have beaten Coons who beat her?
But, that is water under the bridge now. Coons is the Delaware Senator. The Democrats are happy. The Establishment Republicans are happy to the extent that a Tea Party supported candidate is not in the Senate. And the Freedom loving citizens of Delaware can take solice in fact that the Senate has one less RINO.
If she was so terrible a candidate, how did she win the nomination against the establishment candidate?
Winners write the history I guess. Who would have thought the draft dodging Clinton could beat an actual war service vet, twice! Who would have thought that Odumbo could beat the establishment Clintoon? It was after they won the election, everyone found the flaws in the candidate they ran running against (bush was out of touch, Dole was ascerbic and Hitlery was herself).
In Dem heaven like Delaware, O Donnell was a long shot anyway. Same for Angle in Nv and forget Fiorina losing in crazy Cal, hard to win in those spots given the uphill battle.
I will take the 6 we got, perhaps 7 who knows, and move on. When the dems are running 21 verses our 12 next time around, I like our odds.
So, who do you suppose might be the GOP candidate in De in 2012 for the short term seat won by Coons? Of course it will not be O Donnel as she has been vilified. Well, I guess I don’t see one rising up there anytime soon except perhaps for some country club RINO. The aged Castle would fit the bill but then again, why not just elect the dem anyway and be done with it.
Who would be a great candidate...castle? She was the better of the two. If nitwit pubbies had supported her, might have been different. Troll.
Is that you Karl, or your MSM Parrot?
One of the few little reported exit polls from nov 5 is that Castle would have LOST too. De, like Ca, is too far over the dam to bring it back I guess.
How ‘bout a 3 way...marxist coons...rino castle...Patriot Christine!
ODonnell was on BOR last night. He, unbelievably, tried to tie her loss to fact she did not appear on his show! Sure, she would have found a somewhat friendly audience but I am sure after listening to Rove pontificating on BOR’s show about how bad a candidate she was, why would she put herself in a position of being a foil between Rove’s commentary and BOR’s idea of neutral interviews. First question: When did you stop being a witch? Last night he fed her a few lines trying to lead her to agree with him that she should have appeared there BUT this is after the fact wherein no matter what she says, it will have zero impact on tuesday’s results.
The MSM is full of these “kiss and make up at a beer summit” stories. It’s all BS, and the Left only does this when they LOSE and election. That’s the only time you hear them say “Lets’ all come together...”
I know this. That’s why I finished my pointwith troll. I’m just tired of whiners. A long time ago when barry goldwater ran I heard the same crap, from that election came one of the greatest presidents, Ronald Reagan.
Not meant to be a pesonal comment, just a general info post. Yes I got your point when you added troll to your message and I agree with that 100%.
The whole message of the aftermath of this election by the Dems will be the conservatives did not take the senate back. Well golly gee, we had to run the board virtually to do that. They are moving the spotlight from the drubbing they took in the house and at the state levels. Lastly, Odumbo believes his message is not getting out. All the better he believes that because that signals to me full speed ahead by him, right off the cliff in 2012 and it could not happen to a better guy and bunch of lefties than the bunch who are true believers. We do as well in 2012 as we did in 2010, taking 60% of their seats, and the dems lose at least 12. Take out Snowe and it would be like winning the lotto!
2010 Christine O'Donnell and Chris Coons bury the hatchet at the Return Day ceremony.
