Gibbs: GOP efforts to repeal healthcare won't get past Senate

The White House does not think President Obama will have to veto legislation repealing his signature legislative accomplishments.

Though Republicans are rattling their sabers with threats to repeal the new healthcare and financial regulatory laws, the White House feels safe with its buffer in the Democratic Senate.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Thursday he does not think repeal legislation would make it out of both houses of Congress.

“I honestly don't think it will come to that,” Gibbs said at his daily briefing on Thursday in response to a question about whether Obama would veto any attempts at repeal.

Republican leaders like Sen. Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Reps. John Boehner (Ohio) and Eric Cantor have said several times since Tuesday's elections that they still plan to repeal the healthcare and financial reform laws.

Obama said Wednesday in a postmortem press conference on the midterms, which saw Democrats lose the House, that Americans do not want Congress to “re-litigate” the battles of the last two years.

Which is why the Republicans will run against removing far more Democrat Senators and Obama in 2012.

The treat could get a majority with some Democrats coming over to the other side.

Doesn’t hurt to try and is MUCH better than being the Democrats’ lackeys with rubber stamp in hand.

OK, then the House can vote to defund Obamacare, in the same way the democrat-controlled House eliminated the funding for the Vietnam War. Obamacare must be repealed or it will make the current fiscal crisis much worse later in this decade.

Make the Democrat Senators vote on it. Even if repeal does not pass the Senate in 2011 we can make them stick their neck out for 2012.

Doesn’t matter.

There is a lot Congress can do, and at minimum, by keeping it in the headlines over the next 2 years, every time health care costs rise (as they surely will), or another company blames Obamacare for dropping insurance, people will not forget.

Gibbs thinks the war is over. Hardly. The Nazis have just managed to take Poland. That was not the end, or even the beginning of the end.....

I HOPE that this HOUSE send a bill containing the repeal of this disaster to the senate every month. Make vote on it!!! Then we will know which “comrades” to target.

If I remember correctly, Gibby said that the Dems were going to win and keep the House on November 2nd. His record isn’t “lookin’ good”.

The White House is so out of touch with reality. Health insurance costs are now rising rapidly, as I knew they would, and support for a repeal of Obamacare is only just starting to grow.

De-fund the White House. Then de-fund Obamacare.

Actually, I don’t know why shape shifting Rats would not be more than eager to pass the buck to Bummer. They can go ahead in the Senate and allow enough “defections” of vulnerable Rats to come to a sub-supermajority to vote for abolishing Bummercare, knowing that it would go nowhere with Obama as _resident.
