The San Antonio Congressman who is in line to become chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee is promising 'a number of investigations and oversight committee actions' which he vows will 'hold the administration accountable, 1200 WOAI news reports.
Veteran Republican Lamar Smith, a Yale graduate and social conservative who grew up in the brush country of south Texas which is now transit point for illegal immigrants and drugs, said in a news conference that a number of issues will come into the sights of his committee when he takes the chairmanship in January, from cracking down on child pornography to taking the Obama Administration to task for failing to do enough to protect the southern border.
Smith says it is his Constitutional duty.
"Part of that checks and balances is in fact holding the administration accountable, is in fact insisting on more transparency, is insisting on more honesty, and getting the facts," Smith said. "Right now, because of the one party monopoly, the Administration has been able to dodge any kind of supervision, any kind of oversight committee action, and they refuse to testify, and that is no longer acceptable."

I want them all exposed. This will be an entertaining year! My greatest fear is congress will go wobbly, then, we’ll just have to boot them out as well. Finally after years, decades really, of trying to restore conservatism, our day has come. This fight is just beginning, and we will not lose, no matter how long it takes.
I want rangle, frank et all summoned. All of them. It might take years, but we MUST keep this momentum going.
And where the heck has the money gone?
Orange jumpsuit makers should expect a good 2 years.
Or out of the country.....India anyone?
:)
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes ........whoopie !
Shed light on these cockroaches.
Perp walks!
I want to see Perp Walks!
Right. Oversight hearings, conducted properly, can win public support and weaken the administration. With zero weakened and the public on our side, legislative initiates will have a greater chance of success.
For example, health care hearings will give the public a window into rationing and privacy intrusions. Just get Berwick and Sebelius on the hot seat and the videos will go viral. Oversight hearings on fraudulent climate change research could mobilize public opinion against executive orders that seek to impose energy taxes.
We can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Does anyone know if Smith has the cojones to go straight for the jugular?
I’d rather tie them to the back bumper of a pick up and drag them up there.
Czars!!! Czars, and more Czars.
Dig their dirt.
Why .. why ... why .. do they have to telegraph
everything ???!!! So stupid. Jeeeeze.
I concur.
Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution is an excellent starting point.
The local and State govts can care for many items, but invasion by illegals is the FEDS responsibility with the Executive holding the last buck.
Lamar Smith (my congressman for many years...no longer) will do whatever should/must be done.
Holder can arrest people for being white in Omerica.
Anxiety, to keep them up at night. To start e-mails, phone calls flowing trying to cover their tracks. (Hope they already have a couple of wire taps...if from Chicago they probably do).
Paranoia, (Just like Beck stating he's got someone on the inside) Don't trust each other/ creates chaos in communication.
Someone with mental problems can be pushed over the edge if done “correctly”. Their actions become more evident and bazaar.
I agree that there are more important issues, but there is one thing that needs to be investigated right away: the New Black Panther issue. Otherwise, none of the ‘rational’ career lawyers in DoJ would say anything when they see law is being broken. Other issues can wait for a while.
