Machines rejecting ballots because of 'angry voters,' judge says

HUNTSVILLE, AL -- Machines are rejecting ballots across the state because of voters' tempers, according to Madison County Probate Judge Tommy Ragland.

"Voters are so angry, they're taking their anger out with the ballot and the pencil," Ragland said. "They're writing so hard, it's poking through and the machine is kicking it out." Share Tweet 11 Comments

Ragland said he spent part of today at area voting precincts and saw multiple voters bearing down so hard their pencils caused raised lines on the back of the ballot. That warps the ballot, causing the machine to reject it, he said.

"Voters are so angry because of the contentiousness of the candidates, and that falls right down to the voters," Ragland said. "This is a problem across the state."

Using the precedent from Florida - 2000 —

All of those ballots will be manually counted by psychics who will divine that the voters ‘intended’ to vote for Democrats...

That’s odd. I did not have any problem voting. I was number 1653. Did not notice anyone else having trouble.

wouldn’t a raised line make it even easier to determine who they voted for?

this belongs on the Onion network.

This judge is setting up the story for why so many Republican ballots were disqualified. Let the fraud begin.

Madison county uses machine that read the ballots. You connect two areas with a marker that could be a ball point but is normally a felt tip. Then you feed the ballot into a machine. Could be the impressions jam the machine.

BTW, haven’t heard anything bad about Ragland. He’s a probate judge which isn’t too political.

We have always used short pencils. I was talking and trying to walk away and the worker told me to give the pencil back.

I vote in SE HSV and have always used a short pencil. Reminds me of a golfer’s pencil. We do use the machines.

As I left the building in SE Huntsville after voting, I was muttering, “take THAT you sonuvabitch!” in a not-so-veiled effort to make a statement. One guy looked kinda bemused.

Oh! Had to laugh - when I voted today, I was mashing down on the magic marker harder than usual. Not necessary to do so but my resolve to help our country came through.
