Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said Senate Republicans would "welcome" any Democrats who wish to switch parties and caucus with the GOP.
Cornyn, the head of Senate Republicans' campaign efforts, floated the possibility that the GOP might target Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.), an Independent who caucuses with Democrats, or another Democratic senator if Republicans come close to winning a majority but fall short.
"I think he votes like a Republican on those areas, and we would certainly welcome him or any other Democrat who wants to switch sides of the aisle and caucus with us," Cornyn said of Lieberman during an Election Day appearance on Fox News.
Joe Lieberman supports partial-birth abortion. Cornyn needs to be ashamed of himself.
Sit back, take a deep breath, and I will explain why it would be great of Joe Lieberman became an R.
First, he will be a Senator until Jan 3, 2012. There is no changing that. Would you rather have him as an R or a D?
Secondly, the party in the majority in the Senate selects the Majority Leader. The Leader sets the calendar, basically runs things. With 51 Rs, we get to run things.
Joe Lieberman is a moral, just, ethical man. I want since he will be a Senator for 2 more ears, I want him on our side, especially during this very dangerous lame duck two months.
Do I wish he were a more Conservative R, of course, but the reality says he is the best we will get for the next two years.
RINO Cornyn failed at getting RINOs nominated, so now he’s cruising the Democrat ranks for new RINOs.
New day, new faces, same old garbage policies. :(
I never understood why Lieberman stayed with the democRATS after what they did to him in 2006.
An Independent who caucuses with Democrats, vs an Independent who caucuses with Republicans — this is just a way to reduce the Democrats’ hold on the Senate. Could be a big deal if the Senate winds up deadlocked. Thanks Windy City Conservative.
NO,NO, and again no Cornyn!!!!
Maybe we can get Cornyn to join the Dimocrat Party.
Personally, I say do business with Lieberman on the issues he’s good on (Israel, defense, etc.), and then run Linda McMahon against him in 2012.
Cornyn is such an embarrassment, but no one has ever bothered to tell him that he is such.
