Post what you're seeing, hearing in your district, county or state during the day and evening- anecdotal or otherwise!
GOTV!!!!!
which means we must defend the 10 pub seats and earn 10 more....all the while keeping the House majority....
so save your money...
Veto-proof would be 2/3 of 435, or 290 seats.
The GOP won nearly 60% of the House seats. That is a very respectable showing!
If the house alone can prevent the President from appointing radicals to the federal bench, let me know. A closer Senate was the brass ring and this election proved that the entrenched corruption in states that we need to flip to win in 2012 can be the deciding factor. I worked for the democrats in the 90’s and they will take this divisive strategy into 2012 because all they have to do is hold serve.
We won loads of seats in the house but we all don’t want another 1996. If the senate was closer, it would have meant more to the white house because they value the senate more than the voice of the individual districts. This man more than any president before him has shown he does not care what the people think.
A Republican house will be an annoyance to the President but not much of an impediment.
Maybe he meant RINO-proof.
We all know the "downside" of being a "Washington" candidate, but the upside is you do learn to vet yourself early; to avoid saying stupid things as much as possible; and to get your support lined up. In both Alaska and New Jersey---however much people want to blame Rover or the "party"---you had the Tea Party people running both against the Dem and the insider establishment. That's a tall order. I think Paul, Rubio, maybe Scott if he pulls it out have shown that there are ways to do this, but that there's no room for big mistakes.
I think to some degree the criticism of these people that they allowed themselves to be dragged into STATE elections vs. nationalizing the elections (in the case of DE and AK, especially) was a mistake. I know O'Donnell thought she was trying to focus on DE, but in the process she lost part of the message that it was the federal government that was the problem. I don't know---just throwing out ideas. But one thing that CANNOT happen is for conservatives to just assume that because you put up someone with the "right" ideas they will win. It takes both competence AND conservatism, especially in blue states.
I know. If, as a Cowboys fan, I didn’t hate the Steelers soooooo much, it would have been funny.
And the dims want to call the Republicans a regional party? That red, including the red gains, looks about as evenly distributed as you can get.
It requires a solid 40 Senators to block appointments and we now have that. Previously we didn’t. The White House can’ spend a dime without getting it from the House of Representatives, and Obama will never get that without paying heavily. We are not going to see 1996 because Bob Dole isn’t running.
In any case the point of my post was about the size of the election victory, not what are prospects are for the future, which is highly unknowable.
Wonder if any Dims will jump ship...
just what we need... a bunch of repocrats...
There are Red State Dem Senators who can see Obummer can do nothing for them. You think they want to walk that plank in the lame duck session? Think again.
c’mon guys, get a grip
I’m disgusted by the ‘Rats who won but there were lots of good victories — picking up 60+ seats in the House and 6 or so in the Senate? Amazing when you consider the triumphant tide of the Obamanation just 2 years ago.
I can remember the years (long ago) when it seemed impossible that the House would ever be denied to the Demagogues, yet now the Pelosicrats have been thrown out on their butts. Demagogues dominated the House for much of the past 70+ years.
This is a “glass half full” not half-empty kind of moment. More than half full, really, we’ve put the Obamacrats on the path to a total repudiation in 2012 if the Rs don’t blow it in the next 12+ months.
I’ve become more of a long term thinker. Like it or not, the 2012 election starts today and we need to keep the bigger picture “numbers game” top of mind. Trust me, the dems are sitting around this morning with a huge map figuring out what messaging works in places like Ohio, Indiana, Colorado and NC and how they can hold on to an electoral 51% to keep Obama in power. It is their singular goal for the next 24 months and preventing it must be our singular goal if we are to succeed in getting the country on track.
I think we’ll do better. We’ve seen the mistakes the Democrats made and won’t mess it up. The Democrats arrogance, contempt and condescension was their undoing. Our new Speaker Elect is not like Nancy Pelosi.
Some of these guys are screwed up too tight. Elections don’t work like the guillotine in the Revolution, we can’t get everybody at the same time.
I am happy that I never will be in a fox hole with you.

Hi Star,
I wonder if Boehner and the House can cut President Sandtraps and Michelle Ma Belle’s travel and entertainment budget. We’d save a boatload of $s right there.
As we’ve all mentioned from time to time here on FR, if President Bush and Laura had been having weekly entertainment nights and dinners, lavish excursions, etc., we never would have heard the end of it. As it is, the LSM went on and on about him spending vacations at his ranch in Crawford, which, as you know, was set-up to act as a satellite WH.
BTW - I hear the Obama’s are spending Christmas in Hawaii again this year. W always spent it at Camp David so a majority o fthe staff could spend Christmas with their families.
There is no room in my foxhole for you either.

Wow...I just got up and feel like you do about what you wrote.
I should be happy, but am depressed about the Calif and NY and know we will supposed to bail them out next. And Nevada?disgusting.
“The Tea Party involvement and takeover of the Republican Party has just begun.”
I think that’s right! The pundits are focusing on how Christine & Angle didn’t win - and they were Tea Party & Sarah’s picks. Let’s talk about Tea Party & Sarah’s endorsements that DID win, such as Rubio, Paul, West, Webster, Haley, Martinez, etc. They’re concentrating on the Senate, but let’s look at the House, too. I’m disappointed in some of the losses (primarily Senate), but celebrating all of the House and Gov wins. I’m also interested in how many state legislatures switched to R - - combined with the governors, that will be hugh in redistricting.
Still holding out hope for Rossi, Buck & Miller!
