The Rangers didn't get to the WS by having an idiot manager. He taught them to play a game much different from the game they've been playing for years. I don't recall ever seeing the Rangers play this good on defense. When they did well in the 90s it was because they out-hit everyone. And we know how far into the playoffs they went then. This years' strategy got them past the Rays and yanks.

And yes ... they certainly do need some depth in the bullpen. No doubt about that. Perhaps having Nolan here will help.

You’re right, he’s not an idiot. I’m just still laughing at his decision to pitch to Renteria with 1st base open. His management style fits the AL very well, but the NL is a different animal altogether. Congrats on a big year, now on to hockey season!! Go Sharks!
