Go ahead, say it. It's no longer mere fantasy or sheer folly to do so. A rare mix of veteran rejects and budding stars completed an unlikely ascent to the Major League summit Monday night, allowing all to repeat a five-word phrase never before heard:
World Series champion San Francisco Giants. The Giants made franchise history with a 3-1 triumph over the Rangers in Game 5 of the World Series, ignoring their underdog status to capture the 106th Fall Classic, four games to one.
An unlikely hero combined with a likely one to elevate San Francisco to new heights.

“Coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco.”
Mark Twain.
Head to head it’s A’s 1 - Giants o. (I know you were referring to Oakland, but overall the A’s have 9 World Series)
YEAH GIANTS!
(Now I’m going to bed!)
Congrats to the Giants! They were the better team this series. Having said that, I’m VERY proud of my Rangers! They had their best season ever and played excellent baseball all year. Hamilton is the MVP this season, by far. Fox was clearly favoring the Giants, which was to be expected. The Rangers have no history so they didn’t have much to talk about. Joe Buck sucks. Pitching to renteria was the dumbest Ranger mistake all season. With two balls on him already, you complete the intentional walk, period!! San Francisco wins the World Series, and loses the House Majority Leader, in two days. Overall, one out of two ain’t half bad!!! GO RANGERS!!!! :-D
A 3rd generation Giants fan. My grandfather (RIP) rooted for Christy Mathewson, my dad rooted for Carl Hubbell, and I rooted for Sal Maglie. Second saddest day in my life was when Giants left New York.(Saddest was the day one of my sons was killed in an auto accident)
Congrats. Feels great doesn’t it?
It came across clearly. Joe Buck even commented on it (he really is the very best in the booth in this generation). Totally a class act in Dallas and I applaud them (I watched more of them beating the Yanks than I did of the Giants beating the Phils, actually).
It’s ironic. In 2004 the Red Sox won the Series and H=hometown boy John Kerry Lost the election. Who represents San Fran today? ;)
Congrats Giants who beat a classy team in the Rangers. A classic great pitching beating great hitting series.Rookie Giants catcher Buster Posey also deserves a lot of credit for the success of the pitching in calling pitch placement. A budding superstar.
I’d suppose his admiration comes from the pitcher performing extremely well, although he may have an anachronistic hairstyle, and who really cares if he smokes dope or not? He holds a well-paying job, and does it well.
Congrats to the Giants from a fan of the team who still wears orange in the memory of them leaving the Polo Grounds.
Unfortunately, Pelosi will win re-election, but be out of power.
BBBWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Linda Ronstadt? German/Mexican hot tamale piece of streudel. Like so many other hotties, her taste in men is/was putrid.
Have you seen her lately?
Been driving for 12 hours, so when I saw this headline I thought it said “Giants win the Senate! Giants win the Senate!”
No. I’m commenting based on past performance.
Scary I bet.
She blowed up real good.
Sounds like the dark-haired sister from “Heart”. Very pretty, but exploded. It happens. Happens with guys too.
HAHAHAHAHA good one, well you know, since we work so they don’t have to, most likely they’ll all be out partying all night anyway.
Now, Brett Hull made that goal fair and square. He was a little close to the goalie. It was getting late and I wanted to go to bed anyway. OK, we cheated. All of their names should be stripped from the Cup.
The problem was that in hockey when you win at 2AM in the morning, there was nobody awake to celebrate with.
