[Charlie] Cook: Even more vulnerable Dems
Politico.com ^ | 1-1-10 | ALEX ISENSTADT

Political handicapper Charlie Cook is delivering an unwelcome pre-Election Day surprise for 11 House Democratic candidates in tough races, downgrading their prospects for electoral survival.

On Monday, Cook announced that he was shifting four Democratic-held seats from the “Toss Up” category into the “Lean Republican” category – including incumbent Reps. Dina Titus of Nevada, Harry Teague of New Mexico and Frank Kratovil of Maryland – freshmen who have been high on the GOP target list practically since they arrived in Washington.

Cook also placed the Arkansas 1st District seat currently held by retiring Democratic Rep. Marion Berry, where Democrat Chad Causey is running against Republican Rick Crawford, into the “Lean Republican” field.

The handicapper now lists 29 seats currently held by Democrats in the “Lean Republican” or “Likely Republican” categories. Republicans need to seize at least 39 Democratic-held seats in order to win control of the House.

“Less than 24 hours before polls open, the race for the House has taken on a parliamentary feel,” read the Cook Political Report’s Monday pre-election update. “Democrats are headed for losses of 50 to 60 seats or possibly more, primarily because these races have become highly nationalized affairs in which voters' desire to send President Obama and congressional Democrats a message has trumped local and personal concerns.”

Really? The races have become “highly nationalized?” Gee, who could have precipitated that????

Love this post from someone:

. . . And as I stood on the shore, surveying the horizon, I could see the water draw slowly away from the beach. In the distance, I could hear something that sounded like a locomotive’s roar and see what appeared to be mist on the oddly rising horizon.

“What the heck is going on,” I asked myself.

There is that scene from “Deep Impact” that causes me to suck in my gut every time, where Tia Leone is on the beach and that wave coming in.

Charlie knows that the number is going to be greater than 60, but his models are weighted to historical results in each Congressional District and he just can’t bring himself to go with his gut. The historical norms are out the window this year, so what we see tomorrow will amaze all of the inside the beltway crowd.

Obama and the Dems actions in DC are the cause of all my personal concerns.

“Love this post from someone”

Sounda like one of the finalists in the Bullwer-Lytton “It was a dark and stormy night” worst opening paragraph contest. Have you ever read those entries? Hilarious and with Your moniker I can tell Justaham would love them.

Dina Titus going down should warm everyone’s hearts. She is a commie political science teacher who is as nasty as they come.

I believe the oxymoron named Lincoln Davis is going down, too. In my overwhelmingly democrat(65D-35R)rural county, DesJarlais receive 96% of the vote in a mock high school election on Friday.

I had written Dana Titus an email urging a Nay vote on the healthcare bill. Her reply was as expected. I can’t wait for her to lose.
