Television comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert drew tens of thousands of people to the National Mall on Saturday, promising to skewer partisan politics three days before contentious U.S. elections.
The Comedy Central hosts' "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" started off as part slapstick comedy show and part outdoor festival concert.
Stewart opened the festivities by declaring that "10 million" people showed up, representing all ethnic groups in America.
"It is a perfect demographic sampling of the American people," said Stewart, who hosted U.S. President Barack Obama on his show on Wednesday.
"As you know, if you have too many white people at your rally, then your cause is racist, but if you have too many people of color at your rally, then you must be asking for something: special rights -- like eating in restaurants or piggy back rides -- something that we as a society are not ready to give," he added.
The rally, widely viewed as a response to "August's "Restoring Honor" rally organized by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, blurred the lines between satire and political activism.

I like how C-SPAN’s “Independent” callers are ultraliberals talking about Tea Party folks being Brownshirts or “Republicans” who after watching this show are now voting Democrat! LOL
where the reflecting pool go
It was an immense turnout. I was completely wrong when I previously said I thought these liberal mushheads wouldn’t draw a big crowd. They did.
On the other hand, I figured it would at least be funny. It was not. Stewart’s humor simply doesn’t translate well to this outdoor venue.
I had heard that Stewart hoped to get a bigger crowd than Glenn Beck. If he wants to go there, I think he will lose that debate.
And consider that Beck’s rally was made up of ordinary citizens who wanted to be there. Jon Stewart and others were bussing people in for this rally by offering free food and other goodies.
Compared to Beck it was puny though. You are right this rally will not save odumbo as it was intended to do

yep,they’re real moderates...
yup, this was all about helping Obozo and his stooges, but it won’t make a difference
We need one of the tech savvy here to post side-by-side shots of the two rallies. Note: some on this very thread say this was a huge rally, others say it was lame. We NEED the pics, techies!!!! :) I personally dont remember the Beck pics too well, but I think they were HUGE compared to these that Im seeing.
Anyone see the sign that said
NAMBLA
FOR
STEWART?
Huh? I went to SUNY @ Stony Brook back in the late 1980s. Were they somehow involved?

What’s really funny is when they zoom in on the faces in this crowd, they’re not even getting the jokes in which Stewart and Colbert are trying to hide their vileness...the looks on their faces are like...’what?’. I think the only thing they got was ‘the wave’...and then they were lead through laugh, cry, silent, laugh uproariously, et al, like a bunch of sheeple which more or less represents the crowd.
I recommend copying this info and sending it to your entire address list and ask that they forward it as well.
Send it to Drudge, Rush, Hannity et al.

So funny the first two calls on C-SPIN on the “republican” line were seminar callers saying they were republicans who turned democrat?
How many more of these response rallies are they gonna have & when will they be satisfied with their own response?
They seem like conflicted people with real image problems.
“A juvenile and clownish response from juvenile and clownish people.”
Colbert and Stewart are, unfortunately, the preferred source of “news” for my daughter’s generation. And they lap it up, never bothering to consider any other perspectives.
Laugh it up, chuckleheads. I can November 2nd from my backyard. Pretty funny, huh?
This thing is a dud, and will be forgotten before it’s over.
Yeah. I’m surprised they got that many.
Actually there is a second rally that is going on at the same time and place called “Government Doesn’t Suck”.
It is sponsored by unions and government employees.
