War On Citizenship

Rights: A U.S. Court of Appeals has invalidated an Arizona law requiring proof of citizenship to vote in state and federal elections. Not only our borders but our voting booths are wide open.

Many of us have witnessed the pride of new U.S. citizens raising their right hand before a judge after learning about our government and Constitution and swearing allegiance to their new country and its laws. On Tuesday, a panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals decided by 2-1 to tell others who would like to earn their citizenship — don't bother.

The uber-liberal 9th Circuit decided that you don't have to be a U.S. citizen to vote in our elections, or even be required to prove you are. It struck down Proposition 200, a measure passed by Arizona voters in 2004 requiring individuals to produce proof of citizenship, such as a passport, to register to vote, and a picture ID such as a driver's license, or two pieces of nonphoto ID, in order to cast a ballot.

The law was designed to keep illegal aliens from voting in our elections, which we think they should not be entitled to do. Some 30,000 noncitizens were prevented from registering to vote in the first four years of the law. Georgia is the only other state with a citizenship mandate requirement so it too may face a court challenge.

A joint statement by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Secretary of State Ken Bennett, both Republicans, called the ruling "an outrage and a slap in the face to all Arizonans who care about the integrity of their elections."

Much as I respect and admire the governor, verbal outrage is not going to get the job done.

How about the State of Arizona telling the 9th Circuit to put it where the sun doesn't shine .... by going ahead and enforcing their laws in spite of this ruling.

Works for me, let the SCOTUS sort it out.

Practically speaking, how many American voters could prove their citizenship on 11/2? And with so many fake ID’s out there, would your average poll worker know the difference?

Pushing citizenship for illegals while destroying the concept of citizenship. This is truly staggering. Just incredible.

Why should there be a citizenship requirement to vote, but not to be president?

Because, umgud, we are not currently a government of laws, and a few men and women are demonstrating what that means. In 1939 Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes cited a definition provided by an earlier Chief Justice, Morrison Waite, who said:

“The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.”

The Constitution which the Ruling Class and Obama’s party's Central Committee do not recognize required that our president and vice president, and only those offices in the whole government, be natural born citizens, at least 35, and 14 years a resident. Obama told us he was not a natural born citizen, born a British subject, and the Ruling Class said nothing - in part because McCain too was ineligible. Now they avoid the issue because it may be more than embarrassing, it may be actionable.

Every senator signed a bill agreeing that being born of two citizen parents made McCain eligible, a natural born citizen. It wasn't true, and SenRes 511 was a nonbinding resolution, but it documented that every senator, including Obama, knew that Obama’s alien father and British citizenship at birth disqualified him. Dems had already shown with SB2678 that they knew McCain's issue was not having been born on our soil. Enough senators knew that it wasn't true, and 2678 didn't pass. So Leahy, McCaskill and Obama, all part of the scam to insure that an ineligible candidate oppose Obama, dreamed up SenRes 511, probably with the help of Larry Tribe, Obama's Harvard Law advisor, who contributed the obligatory legal brief saying “we really should think of ex-POW McCain as eligible, in spite of the Constitution, which is, after all, a “living document.” Every legislator should be sanctioned. Every judge swears, and has explicit standing to address (report) infractions against the Constitution, whether or not part of a case in their jurisdiction. We can impeach judges through Congress, and we should!

Did not read the whole article so it might have mentioned this.

Indiana requires photo IDs in order to vote. The law was challenged all the way to the US Supreme Court where it was upheld. I have been told that Indiana's law is the most restrictive in the country concerning photo ID.

If this is true, then the 9th Circuit's ruling is just symbolism over substance as the question has already been settled and once again the 9th will have to be taken to the woodshed.
