Run away and hide from your past, that’s the way to do it.

If there were anyone alive today who had labored as a slave on a plantation, I’d say this was a good idea.

I will be voting against it. Not because I give a damn about what the name is, but because I don't want the state to have to spend millions on changing their stationary and signage.
That is my money they will be spending to change everything.

The Colony came into being when Roger Williams and his supporters were thrown out of Massachusetts because they opposed the Puritan theocracy.
Plantations? LOL! Do the moonbats associate Rhode Island with South Carolina?
Much of this country has lost their mind, or least the portion that controls thinking.

Not in Rhode Island. The past few years a handful of State Rep’s from urban areas would submit a bill every legislative session calling for a voter referendum on this issue and finally this year the House Leadership let it pass. Luckily this thing is going to go down in flames..

A local developer built a large apartment complex and named it the Plantation. I think he had ulterior motives in doing that.

Why not drop the “Rhode Island” part? That would be more accurate.

In a few decades they can change the name to “Road iLand” in deference to people who got a public education.
