The Qatari emir has said the U.S. will not be allowed to use its military base in the tiny Gulf state in a military conflict with Iran, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

"According to the agreement between us and the US, they have to ask us, and with Iran, we will not accept this," emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani told the Financial Times, adding that the superpower can sometimes take the wrong decision.

In a rare public policy statement over the media, the emir, whose country is the world's largest exporter of liquefied natural gas, said the sanctions against Iran would not be effective.

Well, when Qatar gets invaded by Iran, they can defend themselves. I imagine the outcome will be the same when Iraq invaded them. It’s time for the Middle East to defend themselves.

Know how we always hear from Washington- no matter the Administration- about “our friends in the Arab World”. (Heard recently when the US decided to sell the repulsive Saudis a shit load of arms.)

It’s all crap.

The Arabs are our friends when we are asked by them to save their ass from each other or from Israel.

In any other instance they are deceiving backstabbers who shouldn’t be trusted by civilized people for the correct time of day.

Seriously, should anybody expect anything from the US when there is a Democrat president? They are ineffectual at best, and duplicitous at worst.

Jimmy Carter pulled the supports out from underneath both Iran and Nicaragua, threw Panama away, abandoned most of Africa. Should anyone ever trust the US again, when a Democrat is president?

Here's a tip Mr. emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, you ain't on the call list.

You signed a long term lease for our many bases on Qatar that are used to attack all kinds of targets from Afghanistan to all over Iraq and Yemen, including over-flying Iran.

You'll be reading about it after the fact if it happens.

Thanks Fennie. The emir is sending a message to Iran, not to us.
