Over 22% of the unemployed are college grads. Reporting on the part timer’s...people living on couches who worked in Silicon Valley...living in cars. Empty buildings that used to bustle.

[FIL voice] They should go to Wal-Mart. /s
What is wrong with you.
The middle class has been destroyed more or less now. With a degree you aren’t going to get any lower jobs to get by. You are overqualified.

...and how many of these idiot phD’s voted for the communist?
saw that, they are in Wash State.
I wish he would have ask how many voted for Obama.
just wait until the massive taxes kick in in Janurary, that’s when it’s gonna get really serious
I noticed not one mention of Obama (except a sign at the soup kitchen) but it was devastating to air this so close to the election. If this piece doesn’t convince people to not vote to overturn our anti-business government, I don’t know what will.
EVERY face of these unemployed were 50-ish former yuppies with great incomes that are now dumpster diving and using food banks just to get by.
As a 50+ who may be weeks away from being laid off myself, it was frightening.
U6 (devined of course, they don’t supply it) is hire in some states, and that is far as I will go...
It’s outrageous! Outrageous!!! Yes, I said OUTRAGEOUS!
That you would post this vanity thread without a clue WTF you are talking about. You do realize there are a lot of us on the left coast that haven’t seen your precious 60 Minutes program?
We are not even considering them because we know that as soon as the economy turns around, they will leave us to take another job but it's pretty incredible nevertheless. Also, the economy here in New England is actually doing better than most parts of the country. I can only imagine what it must be like elsewhere.
Thanks very much for posting this in time for many of us in the western U.S. to watch the show.
Where are you at?
I am sitting here watching “Sinbad and the Eye of Tiger” on TCM. Good lord almighty, Jane Seymour was hot in the 1970s.
One thing is for certain, though. Come November, BOTH PARTIES will own this economy. There is only results from now on. The election isn't an end, it is just to get back in the game.
it is also on Usenet in the “teevee” group if anyone wants it.
Lack of advertising revenue finally hitting CBS’ bottom line...and it just dawned on the Ivy League helmsman there what has been transpiring...
In dire economic ciricumstances, people begin to fear that they’re next, and actually begin to contemplate needing the food stamps and the extended unemployment benefits associated with liberal politics. That’s the dynamic here, ramping up the fear.
It’s not about who’s to blame or who’s “better” at addressing the problem, it’s about who is perceived to be more likely to support them, since they’ve been reduced to worrying about day-to-day. They’re taking the fear that should be working against them and making it personal, which is to their advantage.
That’s why Newt’s stroke of genius of a few weeks back was so stupid, he came across as attacking food stamp recipients just when a large number of people who’ve never been unemployed in their lives have begun to need the benefits they’ve paid for all their working lives and currently see no way out.
Nice goin’ Newt, you handed them their positioning on a silver platter, in an environment that was otherwise going to be almost impossible for them. Brilliant!
Young College people destroyed their own futures by voting Democrat in 2006 and 2008.
Having lived through the nightmare of Carter at the same age, I HAVE NO SYMPATHY for them. ELECTIONS have consequences, they really do.
