The Talk Shows
Sunday, October 24th, 2010
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Pat Toomey, Republican nominee for Senate in Pennsylvania; Joe Manchin, Democratic nominee for Senate in West Virginia.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.; former Bush adviser Karl Rove.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine; retired Gen. Hugh Shelton, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Florida Senate debate with Republican nominee Marco Rubio, Democratic nominee Kendrick Meek and independent Charlie Crist.
Altho far from DE I am experienced in election campaigns and can say that COD’s prior statewide ballot appearance as GOP nominee for US Senator is a big advantage. “Internal polls” commissioned by state and local campaigns do not normally get “released” as they are for inside the campaign strategy to determine where to devote finite resources, or to drop the effort where areas (geographic or demographic) are a lost cause. From afar, I think she is doing OK. Everything else (DBM, both parties’ hierarchy, pundits (Rove, Peggy, Dana et al) is kicking her in the teeth - but she is “Crossing the Delaware”, so to speak, into a mighty freezing headwind and she will reach the other side. I sent her my money.
I agree with your summary about the RINOS and feel that you too have a feel for how these nicely entrenched fellows resent our looking over their shoulders.
As for Barbour...well no, I don’t consider him a RINO. And I’d certainly not put it past Matthews to misquore or outright lie, or hey, maybe someone else fed him a lie.
Could be a feint, could be the truth. I just thought it to be an intriguing statement flying under the radar.
that is one of your very best yet
All I can say is your comments are interesting and add another dimension to the intrigue.
Water pressure here in Central Illinois dropped significantly between 8:30 and 9:00 CDT when Rachael Maddow appeared on MTP. Everyone was throwing up.
Thank you so much and you are now on the list!
Whereas, a Coons' background search establishes that by his conduct he is still the Liberal/Marxist now as he was in the past. He hasn't grown or matured in his thinking one bit. The question is do the Delaware voters really want to put this freely taxing liberal in as their Senator.
I'm looking for her to win regardless of what the polls say. This is an upset in the making!
You know, I watch that show Chris Matthews has on Sundays; and I really can’t figure out why I watch it. It’s always just the group deciding that they all agree on most things, therefore that’s how things must actually BE. It truly is a coconut convention.
Oh my God, Rachel Maddow was so awful. and how about “our” guy, David Brooks? He says, I’m not making this up, that the voters are so disgusted by the candidates from BOTH parties that we’re out here just tossing coins.
Is that what mighty pundit David Brooks thinks of us...that we’re out here tossing coins? That all those town halls and marches and obvious vigor in all things politics but now we’re...tossing coins?
Maddow said that she heard that Christine O’Donnell’s show on Fox news was doing very well, I mean ain’t she just the harharhar...got me laffing all night? rachel maddow is the picture of liberal mean unhappy people who have no joy in life save telling us all how to live and making stuff to mock us with.
I still think D. Brooks gets the Sunday pundit award of the week with his assanine statement that us dummies are out here tossing coins to determine who to bless with our vote.
As for the Ravens, lookit, if they can’t beat the non-winning Buffalo team, who are soundly beating them right now, they need to hang up their hopes for a Super Bowl game.
I really have no huge complaint with the job he did other than if I were there I would have been screaming and shouting that; "the residents of our state of Penn. are totally outraged that Sestak wanted a trillion dollar stimulus and even more obabmba care and even more cap and tax and that this guy is a huge socialist and will do nothing but bring the country down as far as it will go.
But then that's just me.
I really think you have to get excited and raise hell if you want to throw the dems out.
I hate that show and your description is dead on. “Coconut convention”...heh....makes me snort. and how about that esteemed Dan Rather....ever notice how no other show has him on? Think there might be a reason for this?
But I can’t for the life of me find one other political show on after MTP, at least here in the swamps. So I watch Matthews and yeah, they all sit around and agree with each other and congratulate each other for having sensibly solved the problems of the world.
Well that’s kind of funny right there.
Way to go Shalom, fighting with a check is hard to beat.
I think Fishtalk has an excellent take that the Wilmington left could hold the key to victory for either side. Turnout seems to be key in DE.
Yes, but was he a bastard?
LOL......I was channel surfing. Saw Madcow and immediately turned the TV off.
Thanks to both of you for your contributions on this week’s thread.
IMHO, I hope everyone from single precinct captain or co-ordinator on up is compiling a list of names, emails, addresses and phone #’s from this mid-term battle to use, starting on Nov 3rd, for 2012.
Do either of you know if this is happening? If not, it really needs to be.
Just to know that people like Christine and Marco can get as far as they have without having any real political groundwork for them in place in advance, to have achieved what they have so far is amazing.
The info gathered so far will be invaluable nationwide as the 2012 battle starts.
The muslim congress-creature from Michigan said that Juan was a bigot and anti-American.
I notice a new word creeping into the left’s talking points.
Watergate.
Saw it in three different instances. They’re desperately seeking.....something, anything. Hah!
“Dan Rather....ever notice how no other show has him on?”
I think Dan Rather is truly pathetic. It used to be that if you were in the news business, your credibility was your greatest asset. Now it seems all you have to do is impress your coworkers. But Rather fits in well with that Matthews group.
CM’s show comes on here right before MTP and is on opposite the first half of Christiane Amanpour’s show. I usually start off with Amanpour but end up switching quickly when Christiane’s voice starts to drive me into the crazy zone.
There is a big difference between answering a pollster on the phone and actually spending the time to go to the polls.
I doubt the dems are going to bother. What could they be for..less jobs than there are now!
Republicans are fired up!
