(CNN) - The gubernatorial battle in Ohio is deadlocked, according to a new poll. A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Wednesday also indicates that the Republicans hold a wide lead in the fight for the state's open Senate seat.
Forty-eight percent of likely voters in Ohio say that if the election were held today, they'd vote for Gov. Ted Strickland, with 47 percent saying they'd vote for former Rep. John Kasich, the GOP challenger, and 3 percent are undecided. Strickland's one-point margin is well within the survey's sampling error.
..... Kasich held a seven-point advantage in a CNN/Time poll conducted a month ago.

... Besides being a battleground in this year's midterm elections, Ohio is also in the political spotlight since it's a crucial state in the fight for the White House.
According to the survey, 53 percent of likely voters in Ohio disapprove of the job President Obama is doing in the White House, with 42 percent saying they approve of how he's handling his duties. The president's approval rating rises to 45 percent among a wider sampling of registered voters, with 49 percent saying they disapprove.

LS would know the skinny.
Yeah, right.
These CNN/Time polls always skew their samples in favor of the Democrats.
Quinnipiac has Kasich up by 10 points and FOX News/POR-Rasmussen has him up by 6. This is CNN/Time trying to give a dead horse some momentum.
Have you noticed—the new meme is that EVERY race is a squeaker? Everywhere.
The media is trying desperately to help out the Dems.
And if that isn’t enough, watch the vote fraud in the inner cities and in the State of Washington and Alaska by the Dems.
The stakes have never been higher.
We need to talk to every one we know to vote for America’s future, because that future depends on it.
Lies, damn lies and Dem lies
All the more reason to send the ‘get out the vote’ message to everyone you know who will vote our way. That is what the DEMOCRATS and their allies like the NAACP are doing.
....all rat polls have close margins, a simple tactic to try to get rat voters to vote....when in fact it’s only turning out MORE votes for Pubs
You are exactly right. The wave has been growing and there is a major effort underway to squelch the Conservative voter enthusiasm (by the Media) from some partisan pollsters.
These partisan pollsters pull the same garbage over and over.
CNN is the always wrong network, if they did only breaking news like the old days maybe someone would watch, their sister/BS station was never watched in my home then..
Hmm..
I was in NE Ohio a month ago, right after Labor Day.
If the Dems are counting on this poll to win, they are toast.
People in Ohio are MAD. Especially in NE Ohio. Keep in mind, the biggest employer in Cleveland is the Cleveland Clinic!
My son (age 24) called me tonight to announce he is spending part of his day off tomorrow to double dog check and make sure he is registered to vote. He’s also been holding informal “information sessions” with his employees to give them an idea of how they should vote. heh
Also, one local thing. Dems simply don’t come out to vote in bad weather. If it’s raining, cold, sleeting or anything other than 62 degrees and sunny, they stay home.
And no, I’m not kidding about that.
It's CNN...they only polled Strickland, his immediate family and his paid staff.
Looks like most of the other indicators were that Kasich had already started to recover the couple points he had lost last week.
Overall I think he’s still OK, but he needs to hit back (if he hasn’t already) at Strickland’s recent attacks.
Seems like Obama will need a Democrat governor in Ohio so he can cheat in the 2012 elections. If the RAT’s have to cheat somewhere, it will be Ohio.
I wonder if this poll is desiged to help cover up the ballot stuffing?
I don’t believe it.
If November 2nd does not hurry and get here.............
You are right about that. Every time about a week or two before an election the polls coming out, especially by the liberal media, showing a tightening of the races. This is done in order to keep voters energized and increase turnout. If every poll showed one candidate up by 10 points it would dampen enthusiasm and turnout. These polls are nonsense and even more so in states where early voting is going on. It was reported this week that early voting and absentee ballots are overwhelmingly showing a Republican tsunami on the way.
Wow, the GOP must be losing bigtime. /sarc
The dems don’t even need to vote.
If the Dems are counting on this poll to win, they are toast.
You are absolutely right. I live in Ohio and no one I know is voting for ANY Dem. I think they are only polling in heavily Dem districts. If Ohio goes Dem again, look for voter fraud facilitated by Sec of State Jennifer Brunner. She did it fir Obama and she will do it again.
