Famous Hitler rally picture probably faked
Published: 14 Oct 10 16:05 CET
A famous 1914 photo showing a young Adolf Hitler in the thick of the crowd at a First World War rally which the Nazis later used as a propaganda picture was probably faked, German media said Thursday.
Düsseldorf historian Gerd Krumeich has studied the picture and its history and concluded that Hitler was superimposed to lend credibility to the image of the Nazi leader as a patriot and a man of the people, daily Die Welt reported Thursday.
The photo was taken by Munich photographer Heinrich Hoffmann at a rally in support of war against the allies in Munichs Odeonplatz on August 2, 1914.
But it was not until March 12, 1932 that it was published in the Nazi party newspaper the Illustrierte Beobachter, or "Illustrated Observer," the day before the presidential election, after Hitlers opponents had attacked Hitler over his flight from military service in Austria-Hungary and questioned his patriotism.
The caption on the picture read: Adolf Hitler, the German patriot in the middle of the crowd stands with blazing eyes Adolf Hitler.
The photo went on to become a favourite Nazi propaganda picture, appearing with captions such as Adolf Hitler: a man of the people.

Wow! Talk about being tossed an easy-to-hit pitch!

Funny, I’ve always had some doubts about the famous photo showing a jubilant young Shickelgruber at the armistice announcement. That one face in a sea of others is just a little too clear.
I betcha Cigar Guy is in there somewhere...
Now that one has gotta be real!
Feel so sad...
I could cut myself.
The other interesting story on that page: German farm girls calendar offers rustic erotica
As well as Vacation Girl.
Kudos, yefragetuwrabrumuy (interesting moniker . . . )
Still, pretty damn good work in the days that this would involve scissors and glue, not PhotoShop.
I’ve never seen one of him at the Armistice announcement. Can you link to it ?
Yup, that looks pretty fake to me.

lol!
My Father found a picture of Hitler in the burned out Luftwaffe headquarters. I noticed it is stamped “Hoffman” on the back. Probably the same guy who took this one.
I think he was also Eva Braun’s employer.
how about the five homosexuals from that tv show give him a makeover? (like the boston red/pink sox)
