HONG KONG China, which has been blocking shipments of crucial minerals to Japan for the last month, has now quietly halted shipments of those materials to the United States and Europe, three industry officials said on Tuesday.
The Chinese action, involving rare earth minerals that are crucial to manufacturing many advanced products, seems certain to further intensify already rising trade and currency tensions with the West. Until recently, China typically sought quick and quiet accommodations on trade issues. But the interruption in rare earth supplies is the latest sign from Beijing that Chinese leaders are willing to use their growing economic muscle.

Time to reopen our mines and to fend for ourselves. Time for the EPA to lie down and die.
Dismantle, defund, and bury the EPA!!!!!
Isn’t there someone Obama can apologize to?
Well now this doesn’t sound good. Sound like the EPA is doing its usual find job of shutting down the country.
Overturn Wickard v Filburn!!!!!
Well, so much for your green jobs....maybe the lefties can make up for the loss of rare earth magnets for wind turbines and lightweight electric motors by installing pinwheels on their bikes...Don’t forget to turn in your old hard disk drives so we can make spare jet engine parts.
Exactly WHY the last mine closed needs to be shouted from the highest mountaintop...maybe this will put the stake through the heart of the EPA.
The EPA is a threat to national security.
Just take a look at the stocks of the new proposed mines..REE, MCP,AVARF,LYSCF..etc. The miners are gearing up in N.America. We need to push the EPA over a cliff.

Job One. If the Republicans don’t address the EPA problem early they are not serious about helping the people regaining control of the country.
Absolutely.
Easier said then done. We are a mining family and my husband still mines after 35 years. When you close a mine it's not like shutting off the lights and you can turn them on again. They are usually stripped and they flood.
You have to sink great amounts of money to open them up again. It has to be well worth the money to do that since you are also dealing with rules and regulations and every Indian that thinks it's holy ground.
Let’s not forget we sold the Chinese the tech to manufacture the magnets, during the 1990s.
Terrific. China was bound to do something like this sooner or later... you can’t do business with communist enemies and expect favorable long-term results.
Agreed, this is the agency that is my #1 on the hit list. They are the most abusive and violate the very core of Americans lives.
I didnt think it would be easy, I just think it will be necessary.
Time to tell the Feather-Indians that they are US citizens and have no more special claims. Time to get off the rez.
Very much time to reopen our mines.
Congress created the EPA and Congress can make it go away...
Actually it was BLM who shut down the last mine. Google Molycorp, and Magnequench. Unbelievable goings on during the last two administrations.
