Democrats make pre-election pitch to help seniors (help = bribe)

WASHINGTON – Democrats are making a pre-election pitch to give Social Security recipients a one-time payment of $250, part of a larger effort to convince senior voters that their party, and not Republicans, will best look out for the 58 million people who get the government retirement and disability benefits.

The $250 check is meant to make up for a second year without a cost-of-living increase due to low inflation.

President Barack Obama has urged Congress to approve the $250 payment. House and Senate Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid say they will bring up the legislation when lawmakers return for the lame-duck session in November. In the meantime, Democrats are using the proposal to augment their campaign pitch that Republicans would undermine Social Security.

What a pathetically lame attempt to use non-existent tax dollars to buy the votes of seniors.

What! No “extra” money for Military Retirees and those with VA disabilities. We are also going without a cost of living raise. But, inflation is still there. Everything has gone up in price. Where is my relief.

How much do these checks actually cost to mail ou and process?

I would much rather have an extension of the Bush tax cuts than a $250 dollar check written on funds we have to borrow.

This ought to cover the first doctors visit for the 'pills instead of procedures' BamBamKennedy promised for the OLD among US.

Democrats are using the proposal to augment their campaign pitch that Republicans would undermine Social Security.

How do you "undermine" something that has a totally rotten and unsustainable foundation? SS was "undermined" when the Dems created it.

I took a moment to read some of the reader comments at the article's source. 99.999% of all posts were from people/Americans/voters who are deeply offended that the dems would consider them stupid enough to fall for this and/or were offended that the dems are getting us further into debt with such a blatant attempt at vote-buying.

The peeps aren't happy.

I've got a deal for democRATs.

For the measly sum of $10.8 million current US dollars in pure gold bullion, FOB to my bunker and net ZERO days, the democRATs can buy ***my*** vote for the upcoming mid-term elections.

The gold bullion must come jointly and directly from Barak Hussein Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

I'm not sure the dems think this will ever pass. They just want it out there so they can claim they care.

Fact is, seniors are smart enough to know the $500B dems have stolen from Medicare so they could fund Obamacare will hurt them far more than the $250 will help.

It's probably useless anyway as most seniors have probably already voted via absentee ballot.

Remember when the DemoLibTards belittled the Bush tax credit of $3,000? Didn’t somebody run around saying that wasn’t enough to buy a muffler or something?

Isn’t that also $250 before taxes?

I hate these Rat Bastards.

$250 won’t make a dent compared to a cost of living increase.
