I’m in CA. Have not heard yet what to expect from Aetna re individual policy, already priced thru the roof for minimal coverage. They got permission from the State this past summer to jack up the rates a lot, so I’m waiting to hear. If it’s too high, I’m dropping it.

I sell health insurance in California and many of my clients are saying much the same. Anthem Blue Cross has hit my clients with a 12% rate increase, which isn't too horrible all things considered. As an agent, I have avoided offering Aetna. They have been in the state before and decided to pull out of all their policies at one time. They left a terrible mess. I vowed never to trust them again.

My employer just sent out an email about our Aetna plan changes. They’ve changed the one thing I hated about the plan but replaced it with something that might be worse. I can finally get prescriptions retail instead of mail order now, but only through CVS — and there isn’t one within 15 miles of my house. *grumble*

Everything else seems to be the same, but I’m afraid to go figure out what the cost increase will be (especially with no more lifetime maximums... *eek*). I think I’ll just save the sticker shock for Wednesday when I actually get to enroll. Gotta have some excitement to look forward to.

Thanks — my Aetna is thru the horrid AARP because they would underwrite people in the 50 - 65 age group where others were rejecting right and left. It’s a crummy policy and benefits aren’t great, and it costs me $501 per month NOW. Imagine how much it will go up, IF it stays in CA at all?

I tried to change from Aetna as they have raised rates each
year but was told by Anthem and others that the Aetna fee was ‘competitive’ — can you believe that?

I’m not really sickly at all but have a history of back and headache pain and pills that always dump me into the rejection pile. Aetna/AARP only looked back 5 years instead of 10 so I was OK with them.

Who would you suggest I try that serves my area? LA County of course has the highest premiums in the state.

This is one huge mess for all of us and the entire Obamacare needs to be tossed NOW.

At least I was able to cancel AARP membership as soon as Aetna started the policy. Aetna doesn’t care — just uses AARP to get the business.

Thanks again!
