This is why we should not jump to conclusions and support virtual unknowns like Christie, Scott Brown and such.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels opened the door Thursday to supporting both a value added tax and a tariff on imported oil,...A statement of early retirement by Mitch Daniels.

You got my point....Mitch was the darling before anybody investigate what he actually stood for, He is no pure RINO but neither is he close to what we need right now especially when he said that we need to be grown up about raising taxes!
To: Bigtigermike
FWIW, me and a ****pot full of other Americans are NOT OPEN to a VAT and oil tax hike and it’s OUR country.

This is why we should not jump to conclusions and support virtual unknowns like Christie, Scott Brown and such. My thoughts, precisely.
I hope that Mitch Daniels was thinking of a national consumption tax, and misspoke when he called it a VAT, which is quite different.
If he really supports a VAT, then he's toast with conservatives.

So much for the ‘Daniels for President’ crowd...
To: Bigtigermike; Windflier
Agreed. If he supports a VAT he has 0 chance of the Presidency.
I hope.

What else would you expect from a Liberal Globalist who sold the Indiana Tollway to a foreign company.
Hope this ends all the talk about Mitch Daniels for President. He is a Liberal RINO

Daniels recited from Kahns book: It would be most useful to redesign the tax system to discourage consumption and encourage savings and investment. One obvious possibility is a value added tax and flat income tax, with the only exception being a lower standard deduction. Why? Tell me why its the governments business whether someone saves their money or spends it. Is it because money in the bank can be inflated or siezed like a 401K?
Social engineering is what he is advocating.

I'm from Indiana and I love what Mitch has done for the state while he's been in office. However, a VAT tax is the worst kind of tax, especially from an administrative point of view. If you this the IRS is a big bureaucracy, wait until you see it with a VAT tax. Back up, Mitch, back WAY up!

Clyde5445 notified me and posted a link to me on another thread that I found interesting, because it showed that he is also a favorite with a democrat. Paul Ryan has also previously stated that Daniels is his man. I am wondering whether Congressman Ryan will stick with him? Governor Daniels, tried to walk it back, somewhat, much in the manner he has tried to walk back his statements on ‘social issues to the back-burner.’
I have my candidate, so I’m not all that interested in Governor Daniels, although I had hoped to hear his fiscal platform. Now, I’m not so sure.
