I know we Nevadans get our backs up when the national media condescends. We are a proud bunch; we love our state. But as I surveyed the post-mortems in the 140-character world, where concision often yields brutal truth, you could almost sense the head-shaking as the national types opined:
NBCs Chuck Todd: Reids problem tonight is that while Angle wasnt great, his performance made her look passable.
Politicos Dave Catanese: Utterly subpar.
Political Wires Taegan Goddard: Reid didnt knock out Angle but she had him on the ropes. Have to give the edge to Angle ...
Political writer Taylor Marsh may have summed it up best: Sharron Angle passed the Im not crazy test with flying colors. Focused too. This lady just might pull this off. Reid didnt take her out.

Recriminations later. Let’s focus on what we can accomplish. If you know anyone in NV, make damned sure they vote for Angle.
If it’s not close, the RATS can’t cheat.
You are probably right, I am just a bit frustrated about the situation there.
Re: the Education Department
In inflation adjusted dollars, we’ve spent over a *trillion* dollars on the Education Department since it was founded (the data’s all available at a gov’t web-site - I counted it up).
And since the Education Department was founded, the rankings of the US internationally in math and reading have only gone down.
The pertinent question, then, is whether that trillion dollars would have been better spent locally, since it’s clear it wasn’t well spent by funneling it through an enormous federal bureaucracy.
The first thing someone like Angle needs to say is “I’m all for education - that’s why I’m against the bureaucratic rat-hole that is the “Education Department”. Could your school district have made good use of it’s share of that trillion - that thousand billion - dollars?
I’ll take Angle and Coons (the result of standing firm for Conservatism) over Tarkanian/Lowden and Castle.
As for Angle, I think she’s going to end up being a one-term disappointment, but at least she’ll count as an R
Sharron sold herself well and Harry didn't.
Her next move should be no second debate. You never give a bad debate opponent a second chance to change people's impressions. I suspect Harry was the one avoiding a debate before this and now Sharron should be the one who is "too busy".
Sharron still hasn't had a visit from Sarah Palin, I believe, so if she comes in to close the deal, this race is won just as long as we keep our side enthused and eager to turn out and vote.
They only agreed on one debate. Reid would look totally desperate if he requests for another one now.
O'Donnell would be a fine Senator, better than Castle for the cause of America. The war is far from over in Delaware.
That's a great point. Democrats and their media allies have only two templates for any conservative - evil (Cheney, Gingrich, Rove) or stupid (Palin, Quayle, O'Donnell). When you reach the level of Bush or Reagan, they denounce you as both.
Angle was supposed to be the nutter this election cycle until O'Donnell won in Delaware and the media (and Rove) decided O'Donnell was the nutter which left Angle room to be "sensible".
So, even if O'Donnell loses, she has in a sense defeated both Mike Castle and Harry Reid - a two-fer.
The 1992 election wasn’t Quayle-Gore — it was Bush-Clinton. Your analogy doesn’t apply.
The most important vote that Mike Castle would have cast would have been his votes for Mitch McConnell for Majority Leader and Jim Demint and John Cornyn as Committee Chairmen.
If he voted against the GOP on 50 percent of the rest, that would still be more than you will get from Chris Coons, aka Mr. Abortion.
I’m not buying this. Castle had to go. I am tired of rinos and I’m not doing the “lesser of two evils” routine any more. Hannity is kind of a light-weight, but Levin is a sharp guy.
Mike Castle, in my view, was no better than Coons on abortion. A big proponent of expanding taxpayer funded embryonic stem cell research.
Chuckie Schumer as the Senate Majority Leader next year will be pro-abortion.
Wouldn’t you rather have had pro-life Mitch McConnell as the Majority Leader?
A simple yes or no answer is sufficient.
It bothered me that Angle wasn’t able to slap Harry Reid around more in this debate. A perfect opportunity would have been when she was talking about problems her 88 year old WW2 veteran father was having and Reid made some smug comment. She should have slammed him hard at that point.
