Fresh Senate Polls in W.V., Nev., Wisc., Wash., Conn., Del. (O'Donnell crushed)
Weekly Standard ^ | Oct 12, 2010 | JOHN MCCORMACK

Posted on 10/12/2010 10:48:00 PM PDT by tlb

Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, shows West Virginia governor and Democratic Senate candidate Joe Manchin leading Republican John Raese by 3 points (48% to 45%), just a couple weeks after trailing Raese by a few points. It will be interesting to see if other pollsters pick up the same movement. Last week, Rasmussen showed Raese leading Manchin 50% to 44%.

Nevada race remains tight. PPP shows Harry Reid leading Sharron Angle by 2 points in Nevada (47% to 45%). But Fox News finds Angle with 2 point lead (49% to 47%).

From Fox's other polls out today (GOP candidates listed first):

Linda McMahon is trailing Dick Blumenthal by just 6 points in Connecticut (43% to 49%)--a slight improvement from the last Fox poll showing her down 10.

Washington.. Dino Rossi over Sen. Patty Murray (47% to 46%).

Delaware ...Christine O'Donnell trailing Chris Coons by 16 points (38% to 54%).

Finally, Rasmussen shows Republican Ron Johnson leading Democratic senator Russ Feingold 52% to 45% in the the Wisconsin Senate race--a little closer than it was two weeks ago (54% to 42%). But the poll is still bad news for Feingold.

She’s weak because she has a weak background? No pedigrees? I’ve listened to her speak and she’s a very good speaker

She was and is an extraordinarily weak candidate. She’s had years to persuade them otherwise, and didn’t. Scapegoating Rove for speaking the truth isn’t the answer.

Todays date is 10/13. The election is 11/2. You have no clue what’s going to happen yet.

Hey if you think you can do a better job...why didn’t you run for office?

Public Policy Polling is a DEMOCRATIC POLLING FIRM FOLKS. Chill out. Only Rasmussen is accurate.

Well, Fox/Rasmussen has Coons up +16. Magellan has Coons up +18.

Why in the world did he bad mouth her particularly AFTER she won the primaries.
Because Rove is a dirtbag RINO POS who was doing the bidding of his masters.

Let’s guess. Did Karl have a lucrative contract to handle DIABLO Castle’s Senate race and then get stunned by Christine O’Donnell hammering DIABLO in the primary unexpectedly?

If Coons wins the first person he should send a Thank You card is Karl Rove.

Rove cut O’Donnell off at the knees and firmly planted the notion that she was a loser with his insane, primary night, foam-at-the-mouth, anti-O’Donnell rant on FOX. He made sure there was blood in the water then made sure the sharks could find it.

Rove gave O’Donnell opponents all the talking points they needed and layed out the campaign strategy for Coons.

Rove and his sort are more threatened by the Tea Party than they are by Democrats. His prime interest is not in just winning - it is preserving the two-party power sharing system and making sure the good old republican boys still get first dibs on the table scraps the democrats throw out.

Good point and makes complete sense. Actually, it’s probably absolutely right.

But it’s not too late. A lot can happen in three weeks.

Exactly!

I’ve had my fill of listening to these wussies on our side throwing in the towel everytime a new poll comes out. Good grief, this crap is beyond embarrassing!

“Oh no...their down in the polls...we’ve lost!”

Exactly. . .they are all about prediction of results and not about what we are supposed to be about: STANDING UP FOR OUR PRINCIPLES AND PERSUADING MORE PEOPLE TO OUR SIDE!!

Indeed!

Look, I’m not saying we shouldn’t look at some polls, but everytime a new poll comes out, the panty waist brigade comes out whining that the elections lost!

Good grief, we still have three weeks to go!

Frankly, I hope Dems don’t come to the FR and see crap like this. It really is embarrassing!

Right. There was a good one put out ‘Coons the ‘taxman’ but it was put out by “friends” of Christine ODonnell. This is just my opion here, but I thought the ‘witch’ ad was stupid. (putting on flame retardent suit now). It was so sappy and, imo, somewhat condescending. In any case you’re right...the focus needs to be shifted completely to Coons now.

If the Republicans ended up with either 50/50 or 51/49 after the Election, I would bet a dollar to a donut that Castle would have pulled a Jumpin Jim Jeffords by January.

If we lose Delaware, so be it. I wish our Candidate was stronger, but she is our candidate none the less. Election day will tell the tale.

IMHO - Castle would have been nothing more than a ticking time bomb who would blackmail the Republicans to gain power and fulfill his Liberal agenda. He is nothing more than the East Coast version of Lisa Murkowski.

“I’ll never trust Rove again. He should have just kept his mouth shut!

Maybe Obama going to Delaware will help Christine.”

If anybody didn’t know it before, they should know now: Rove is part of the Republican moderate establishment.

An yup, Obama will certainly help O’Donnell. Whoever he campaigns for, loses their election.

Well, the best news of those polls is McMahon. If a Dem-leaning poll has her within six, she's in pretty good shape. Be happier if she was leading by six, but we'll see come election day. I think she's a solid candidate, even though I probably would disagree with her on some social issues.

I believe Raese and Angle will win in WV and NV, respectively. Barring recount hijinks, of course. Double ditto on that for Rossi.

As for O'Donnell...it certainly doesn't look good for her at the moment. Obama's appearance in DE does suggest there is some concern by the left that she could pull it out, though. We'll see.

Your post is so well stated that it needs to be bumped:

I know the witch ad was professionally done, but I didn’t like it either. Why was she in black? Why focus on an accusation that is patently foolish? She did need to reconstruct her image but maybe an ad showing her interacting with seniors or children or with other voters would have been better.

It’s easy to get caught up in defending personal slurs, but the candidates at this point have to stay on message. The stimulus, ignoring voters, the health care fiasco, and who created them and forced them on us is where the focus has to be. That drives turn out and changes votes. He said, she said does nothing.

“Rush spoke about this today and I tend to agree with him. He believes in this case that the polls are skewed and that the numbers are actually alot closer”

In NY the polls had Paladino one point behind in the gubernatorial primary race, just ONE day before the primaries, but he won 2 - 1 over his opponent.

People need to stop living their lives around polls.
