Yeah it is. I had to look it up and found that the smallest quake Chile has ever had was a 6.2 in 2007
The largest quake ever recorded anywhere, a 9.6 happened a couple hundred miles from there in 1960.
I (very) vaguely remember the newspaper headlines...
