Trapped Chilean Miners Rescue Beginning. Live Coverage
(Excerpt) Read more at guardian.co.uk ...
Well THAT was a tear jerk-er for me man!
anybody who didn't get the sniffles from that scene is emotionally barren.
Good question!
Next is Dario Segovia, 48, a drill operator. His father is a miner, and once was trapped for a week.
My husband and I both cried and he never cries!
We are “technically” halfway now at 19. 33 miners + 5 rescue workers.
Maybe some are wearing them and some not. The guy before him wore one, but the one before him didn’t.
The doc is hugging and kissing the family members. Maybe I should move to Chile, LOL!
Another rocket about to go up.
I wonder how the later guys in the line health is? They have all looked pretty healthy. I guess the medic is prepping them for the ride up.
When the Minister of Mines guy was speaking, he said they had all the weakest ones out. They were very concerned about a couple of them but they are out.
Nearly up is #20 Dario Segovia. He is 48, and married with 3 grown children. Dario´s sister was known as the Mayor of Camp Hope. His family was singing the national anthem while waiting for him
5 that remain are in their 20s, just a guess that their age would be be in their favor.
Welcome Home Chilean Miner & Elvis Fan Edison Peña
10/13/2010
Chilean miner Edison Peña was brought to safety on Wednesday, October 13, after 69 days of being trapped underground. Peña is a self-described major Elvis Presley fan and the 34 year-old asked for Elvis music to be sent into the mine so the trapped workers could have sing-alongs and keep their spirits up.
Graceland would like to welcome home Edison Peña, and along with the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau, has extended a special invitation for him and a loved one to visit Elvis’ home in Memphis. We are so glad he is safe, and wish the very best for the other miners still awaiting their rescue.
Does anyone know which miner it was that his wife AND mistress showed up together at an ealier vigil? It will make for an interesting homecoming if he hasn’t come up yet.
Thanks. This is good news. Awesome.
“Im sorry, ‘tapestry of Mary’ should read ‘Our Lady of Guadalupe’”
I’ve been trying to see that image again, but I don’t think it was Guadalupe. That’s Mexican. I think it was an image of Mary, but not from Mexico. What do you think? It doesn’t really matter. What we are seeing is open professing of faith in many ways.
He’s up! Big hugs to his wife of course. Thanks and hugs to all the rescuers and to the Mining Minister (he has been there the whole time).
Does it make anyone else nervous when the rescuers lean over the hole? I wish someone would hold their harness when they do that.
From the Guardian: Darío Segovia Rojo is the 20th man to be rescued from the mine. He hopes to start a business of vegetables with the money he earns after leaving the mine. Segovia is 48, with six children.
I just looked it up - that’s Yonni Barrio and he is up next. His wife will not be there to greet him.
“Next up out of the mine is Yonni Barrios Rojas, who could be forgiven for having mixed feelings about his emergence.
It’s Barrios who has both a wife and girlfriend waiting for him above ground. They learned that each other existed when both turned up claiming compensation because he was trapped in the mine. Wife and girlfriend almost came to blows some weeks ago. Could be interesting...”
18 left. Gonna take another 10-12 hours.
Turnover is quite a bit faster than last night!
(Keeping my fingers crossed!!!)
Word on the street is that Yonni’s wife won’t be there. Not sure about the girlfriend.
