Where’s Stan Chambers now that we need him?
Well, Brit would be much better than Shep and Sean, but having a survivor from Quecreek might have a better understanding of the situation and could comment with much more authority.
then second it posted, I was laughin way out loud
My thought was just the barometric pressure change due to altitude difference.... fleeting navy doc thought. Thanks.
ditto and ditto..........
“Wheres Stan Chambers now that we need him?”
I don’t know too much about him other than he was a celebrated reporter somewhere in CA.
“Has anyone thought of what to do when these guys get the bends?”
As others have said, there is no worry of that since there is no water involved, so the pressure difference is the same as just gaining altitude, like going up a skyscraper or a ski lift.
However, an interesting thought experiment: If there WAS that kind of pressure down below, they could just have the miners walk under the pipe/hole one by one and they would just shoot right up and out of the pipe like a big spitball from a straw!
I think the biggest “adaptability” issue they are going to face is getting used to daylight again after being in comparatively dim lighting for over two months. I also wonder what it did to their circadian rhythm?
I’ve been watching the live feed and I just know there
are miners across the country pounding on their TVs
and yelling, “What the f*** are you doing???”.
Why didn’t they line the pit head up with the shaft?
They have to use a snatch block and a strap to center it???
Crikey!
Does the pod keep getting stuck?
They lower it, raise it, then wail on it with a sledgehammer.
GOOD is the problem. So far only CNN larrykingalive has it as far as I can find.
They're not going to get the bends. The pressure differential from ascending 2,000 feet down isn't enough to do more than pop your ears a couple of times.
Ever been on an airplane?
700 meters is not much of a change, no different than riding a ski lift. You may have to “clear” your ears but that’s it.
Wow, thanks for the info. I certainly wasn’t aware of the situation you described.
Maybe it has been stated already but I must have missed it if it was, how deep are they buried?
Stan did the first “person stuck in a hole” TV coverage. Boy, I wish they’d back off on the families a bit, having somebody shove a mike in your face while you’re having a stress breakdown is disgusting.
Sorry, on the phone. Why not a ladder?. The hole is about 700m deep and 1 meter equals about 3 and 1/3 feet so 700 x 3 (rounded)= a 2100 foot ladder, there abouts. L~
it looks like the wagon wheel is moving again.
LOL!!
When one considers how much the msm lies......
You know, I wondered the same thing when I first saw that. Maybe, the hole was drilled on a slight angle. Would be interesting to know why the head is set away from the rescue shaft.
