Trapped Chilean Miners Rescue Beginning. Live Coverage
(Excerpt) Read more at guardian.co.uk ...
I was just chatting to friend in the Philippines, and she said she has been watching this rescue, as well. Also, she has been crying like many of the rest of us.
Oh I bet that wasn't taken well in the studio LOL. I stopped watching him several years ago.
Doesn’t everyone love a happy ending? God was in that mine along with the devil and those guys for sure followed God.
And then the rescuers
Last miner getting ready to roll, then the rescuers and it’s over!
“Doesnt everyone love a happy ending? God was in that mine along with the devil and those guys for sure followed God.”
AMEN.
Anybody know what the last miner was holding up and now one of the rescuers is showing around?
Its going down for the last guy now!!
So much... Something that gives me hope is that President Pinera is the first right wing President elected in 52 years! And look how Chile has bounded back after the earthquakes, and how they have the strongest economy in S. America.
We can get there! We will!
Looks like the phone that was used to communicate with them
One more, and the 6 rescue members.
I admire the commitment of their rescue team and leadership. Chile has every reason to be proud.
Maybe this is exactly why I cannot tear myself away from the coverage. We’re seeing real leadership! Lord how I’ve missed it.
We will, we will, we will, damn it!
It was the first phone they used to communicate to the surface with.
Last miner up is Luis Urzua, age 54. The foreman on duty when the mine collapsed and now a national hero in Chile. His disciplined leadership was credited with keeping the men alive on an emergency food supply during their first 17 days without contact from the outside world. He pleaded with the President, “Mr. President, we need you to be strong and to rescue us as soon as possible. Don’t abandon us.”
Yes. I hope we never take it for granted again.
