Chamber of Commerce to Joe Biden: 'Not a single cent'

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce responded emphatically Monday night to a direct challenge from Vice President Joe Biden to reveal how much of their funds donated to candidates comes from foreign sources.

The answer, according to an evening press release? None.

"Zero. As in, 'Not a single cent,'" wrote Tom Collamore, senior vice president of Communications and Strategy from the Chamber of Commerce in an e-mail with "And the Answer Is ..." as its subject line.

"We accept the vice president's challenge here and now, and are happy to provide our answer," Collamore added, in response to Biden's harsh indictments of the Chamber rendered at a fundraiser earlier Monday in his hometown of Scranton, Pa.

The White House has been hitting Republicans and the traditionally GOP-supportive Chamber on their fundraising activities heavily in recent days, accusing the opposition of taking money from foreign interests and funneling it into domestic races.

“I challenge the Chamber of Commerce to tell us how much of the money they’re investing is from foreign sources,” Biden said Monday. “I challenge them. If I’m wrong, I will stand corrected."

When will they get off their duffs and ask the reverse question: How much of the money being spent by Unions on the dems is coming from foreign sources?

This strategery of the Zero, attacking the Chamber of Commerce, has blown up in their face BIGTIME.

And you know why?

Just about every town, village, and hamlet in the USA has a Chamber of Commerce. They are the well known people, businessmen, in the town. They employ everybody that has a job. They go to our churches and sit next to us in the pews. They live down our street. Their children go to school and play with our children.

Obama has no inkling about business, capitalism or how it works. He thinks that jobs are generated by government edict. He hates everything that capitalism is or stands for. To him The Chamber of Commerce is like the nest of vipers that needs to be destroyed. He’s so clueless that he actually thought that he could demonize an institution that has its roots in everybody’s backyard..................................

They don’t care about the “foreign donors”, they want a list of all donors so they can target them. Look what happened to the people who supported Prop. 8 in California.

Excellent, insightful post.

I’m not sure just how clueless Zero is, though. While I certainly agree that he views the wholly American and upright Chamber of Commerce as evil, I believe, (referencing the bedrock foundation of his approach to all issues), that much of it is simple racism, and the politics of vengeance:

The C of C are nothing but a bunch of white, country club exploiters, keeping the black man down, and its OUR time now, and finally our chance to get even, or some such racist, delusional drivel as that.

To understand The Zero is really simple. It’s not difficult at all.
He was raised by Marxists.
He was tutored by Marxists.
He “sought out” Marxists in college (his own words, not mine).
He allied himself with Marxists after college (Ayers, Dohrn, Jones, et al)
