That is a very effective, attention-grabbing ad. Any idea of the agency or creative shop that produced it?
And if I don't get the Google part of it, a lot of West Virginian voters aren't either. There are vast numbers of people who don't get anywhere near the internet.
Neither did I. The first thing crossed in my mind was, “Would Google sue them for using their typography?”
too bad it appears to just be a web ad (there’s no “I approve this message” disclaimer which indicates it is not being run on TV)...he needs to run it on TV - 1 minute spots are expensive but this would pay a dividend.
Great ad. Puts the lie to the “moderate Manchin” nonsense.
If I had to guess, I’d bet Pikewood Creative since it is affiliated with Greer Industries (Raese property).
I guess I must out of some loop. Isn’t this just preaching to the choir.
This ad assumes an enormous familiarity with the health care issue. Surely the voters who would be swayed by this ad don’t have this much knowledge.
The flip side also holds. Surely the people who have the knowledge are way past being influenced by this ad.
You have to know Pelosi and Reed. You have to be a firm opponent of the health care bill. You have to know Manchin’s current position on the bill. You have to have a harsh view of of Democrats who knew the bill was unpopular but couldn’t find the independence to oppose it.
Much too complicated, in my view. More like an inside joke for people like us. Only good for preaching to the choir.
I wasn’t clear on whether this ad was actually running, or going to run, or just a youtube clip. As a youtube clip, it’s probably are pretty good piece, and my comments aren’t really very meaningful.
That is a GREAT ad. :)
Great ad....it will go viral and thus spread throughout the land....check out the U-Tube hits in a day or so.
awesome
Not as good as the Fiorina add that broke about a week ago. I was in the company of some politicos and showed it to them on the web they thought it was fantastic.
Well, I'm a West Virginia voter and I GET it. The ad is telling folks, "If you don't believe us....look it up!"
Perhaps it's just Californians that don't get it.
It’s clearly designed as a web ad hoping for it to “go viral” among people who are more oriented to both the web and politics.
I doubt it will ever run on TV nor is it meant to do so (it’s 60 sec. long (not 15 or 30 sec.) for one thing, and as noted too intricate for the average dumbed down TV viewer).
I don’t know if it can change many minds or not but it does have the potential (because it is so catchy and powerful) to be forwarded and re-forwarded in a lot of emails..... whether it will make inroads beyond “the choir” I have no idea, but I suspect it will become well known to West Virginians who use computers.
Uh......excuse me......you have VASTLY underestimated the intelligence of the West Virginian people. Guess what? We have just over one million people in this state and we have enough Tea Parties to cover the lot of them. Coal miners, who usually vote the way the union tells them to, but this time they are mad as heck. They know what cap & tax is doing to their jobs. WV is the only state that already has a cap & trade tax and Manchin was the man who signed it into law. You think they don’t know that? In a small state the people know just about everything that goes on.
WE HAVE A WINNER! WE HAVE A WINNER!
That ad is friggin’ awesome. Raese needs to run it until right before it starts getting old and then pull it. And, then, run it the weekend before the election on November 2.
