An attempt is being made to sell three financially solvent Catholic hospitals in Northeastern Pennsylvania and the motive is Obamacare, according to their owner.
On the block are Mercy Hospital in Scranton, Mercy Tyler Hospital in Tunkhannock and Mercy Special Care Hospital in Nanticoke, which are owned by Mercy Health Partners of Scranton.
Mercy Health CEO Kevin Cook told WNEP-TV that while the hospitals were "actually . . doing well" they expect that over the next five years "a different level of investment" would be needed that what they could do on their own.

Freakin’ great...
I would guess under obamacare, labor laws would be forced by the government and religious hospitals would be forced to hire those outside the religion, gays, etc.
Thanks, Obama, you friggin socialist assclown.
Obamacare working as intended.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Catholic liberals believe that they can pray for Obama and other pro-abortion polititians and they are justified in voting for them. I say, “you were given a choice” and you voted for a pro-abortion candidate. Blame yourself. There are no excusses.
Most of the hospitals under my company’s “umbrella” are Catholic or faith-based facilities, and there’s been a lot of talk from the hospital clergy about how this law will affect us.
Due to our ardent anti-abortion policies, any government force to provide abortions will cause the hospitals to shutdown, and they’ve made no bones about it: they will shut down hospitals if forced to perform abortions.
A few months ago, I had a conversation with someone who told me that several doctors in her family told her that the Catholic services have been busy buying up hospitals all over the country. She was asking me what I thought that was all about. All I could think about was abortion.
Well Obamacar is the first Muslim tax on non-muslims in the USA. It is called a Jizya and is common in Muslim countries. It is designed to force people to convert to Islam.
Muslims are exempt from ObamaCare.
Thank the mindless indiots in America who watch TV. Fox is only marginally better but ALL Tv supports Obama and Islam.
Interesting, I didn’t know that Muslims were part of the exempted class.
Anyway, it’s not Catholic Services, as I stated, it’s Catholic Charities that are buying up hospitals all over the country and the point is simply to oppose abortion. It appears that they are also selling hospitals or shutting them down in areas where they are under pressure to perform abortion.
In WA state, we have assisted suicide, and in my county, the only hospital is Catholic. They are under constant pressure from the left over the refusal to offer assisted suicide. Abortion isn’t even discussed.
Assisted suicide is what Obamacare is all about,to old to be taxed you go.
Unbelievable... what next?!
Expected. I called this back before Obamacare passed that Catholic hospitals across the nation would be sold and closed.
You’ll have far worse care and spend far more.

Yup, this is the Jizya.
I have my issues with the liberal American Catholic Church but the church generally does a good job at running hospitals and schools.
I’ve never been to any hospital other than a Catholic one, and my experiences have been exceptional every time.
Makes me wonder if there are any Islamic hospitals? Do the wards explode once a day to cleanse the world of the infidels?
As did I. Watch for some name changes, too, where hospitals merely "sound" Catholic. For example, I expect St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital to become simply "Children's Research Hospital". Otherwise, no more Labor Day telethon using the public airwaves.
