How the hell did that statute ever get passed in NC?

So what are gun owners who are evacuating supposed to do? Leave their guns behind at home for looters to get them?
One thing to note: In New Orleans after Katrina and only the thugs had firearms, there was looting, burglary, murder, mayhem. Across the river in Mississippi where law abiding citizens exercised their Second Amendment rights, there was very little trouble. You decide.
“Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6”. Only a fool would comply with this law.
I wouldn’t expect anybody to comply with this “law”.
Here’s a thought-why don’t they just prohibit looting, murder and mayhem? Wouldn’t that be a more direct approach?
I guess that was so the LEOs would have less people to worry about as looters. If you were caught, then it seems you would have been considered a looter.

This is bullsh1t law and ought to be ignored as it is unconstitutional, unsound and also just plain unsafe.
The 2nd Amendment Foundation has already sued the State of NC over this, in the City of King case.
I continued to carry during the so-called "emergency", and so did my friends. And lots of people went ahead and went out for the first day of dove season, which occurred during the "emergency."

N.C. is the most gun un-friendly state in the South. You even have to get a permission slip from your local sheriff before you are allowed to buy a handgun.
Lots of libs moved in when tobacco moved out.

Well that makes it easier for the Cops and NG to steal them after you’ve evacuated as happened here after Katrina.

Government, of course, as usual, has things exactly Bizarro-World backwards. It's when the security of a free state is imperiled that the right of the people to keep and bear arms is most necessary.
From my research of the issue, in case this takes place in other states, was that unless the “State of Emergency” is rescinded, it remains in effect for 30 days.
Was the “State of Emergency” ever rescinded?
