New Dem bogeymen: DeMint and the 'Junior DeMints'
Politico ^ | 10/4/10 | Ben Smith

Posted on 10/04/2010 7:40:32 PM PDT by pissant

The subject line of a DNC email to supporters today: "Leader DeMint."

Communications director Brad Woodhouse emails the list with tales of the South Carolina senator and a request for money:

There might be some Republicans who are concerned about the radical ideologues pushing their party toward extremism, but Sen. Jim DeMint isn't one of them.

In race after race, he's gone out of his way to endorse and offer support to a group of extreme candidates who believe that we should eliminate the minimum wage, end Social Security, and do away with civil rights protections.

And Jim DeMint is just like them -- he might even be worse.

Just look at what he said this weekend: Speaking at a rally in South Carolina he told a group of conservatives that gays, lesbians, and some unmarried women shouldn't be allowed to teach in public schools.

One Jim DeMint in the Senate is more than enough. So we're focused on defeating the Junior DeMints -- the candidates he supports.

DeMint, the DNC warns, is "consolidating a power base for the future."

The great “unwashed public” doesn’t know who Boehner is. So the marxists think trashing DeMint may get some traction.

Problem is, it isn't going to work. Conservatives are firmly behind DeMint and no amount of left-wing bashing is going to change their minds.

All this talk about Republicans being "extreme" is ludicrous when you consider what the Democrats have done in 4 years in Congress and nearly 2 in the WH.

“extreme candidates who believe that we should eliminate the minimum wage, end Social Security, and do away with civil rights protections.”

Since when is more Madison and less Marx extreme? I suppose the 10th amendment is a bit extreme for them also. What jackasses.

Rock on DeMint!

Guess attacking Boehner just wasnt enough. Now the Dems attack someone new. Doing the same thing again and again hoping for a different result.

The Dem's are in classic "attack" mode. They're treating this like it's Dem vs. Pub. There is one thing though, the Pub's got trounced in primary's and received a message; this isn't an anti-party election; its an anti-establishment election.

/credit to another FReeper who's name escapes me at the moment.

One of my teachers introduced me to the concept of language manipulation when I was still in school, and I’ve read news and political announcements skeptically ever since.

“do away with civil rights protections”

What does that mean, exactly? I presume that it’s duckspeak for doing away with UNEQUAL laws such as affirmative action and hate crimes, where some groups are favored over others.

Put that way (i.e., speaking the truth), it becomes a great deal more appealing. But the standard ploy, of course, is to pretend that all conservatives are racists.

No, it’s Barack Obama, Eric Holder, and their ilk who are the racists.

The great part about this strategy is that it Nationalizes all the races, rather than keeping them local. “Don’t throw me into the brer patch!”

They (general public) don’t know who DeMint is either.

However, conservatives do. Conservatives would be more inclined to use resources and divert their efforts in GOTV to protect DeMint then they would be to defend Boehner. This attack is smarter then their previous ones. Rush? Not running for office. Bush? Long gone. Cheney? Well, worth some defense but still not running for office. Palin? If she’s running it’s not for a couple more years. Glenn? Not running for office. Boehner and CcConnell don’t have the loyalty of conservatives.

DeMint is the only one in office and practically the only one throwing a wrench in the establishments plans within the Congress right now. He’s important, would require a defense and commands some loyaty in the Tea party. Still too late to demonize him for this election though. And hopefully by 2012 some of the new hires will have followed his lead so we’re not dependant on one man. I like DeMint, I just don’t want to be in a position where we rise or fall on one. The movement is strong as it is because it lacks one definitive head that if they take out will destroy it. We need the same kind of movement existing within Congress too.

DeMint, the DNC warns, is "consolidating a power base for the future."

Which may be the best political news since November 1980.

The DeMints will be needed in this country to kill the bad taste of socialism that have given this country halitosis the past two years.

I don't care if he says if he is running or not....... DeMint 2012

We have them to thank for one thing though......they and their ilk have rendered the word “racist” meaningless ;-)
