MARIETTA, Ga. - The mother of one of two boys charged with the brutual beating of a 94-year old man is speaking about the case.
At her son's hearing Friday morning in Cobb County, the mother of the 11-year old accused of attacking World War Two veteran Paul Smallwood says her son didn't do it.
The mother called her son a bystander watching.
Earlier during the hearing, attorneys for the two boys accused of beating Smallwood entered not guilty pleas.
The two boys -- 11 and 15-years old -- were in court earlier this week when the judge decided there was enough evidence to hold them. Thursday it was learned part of that evidence includes surveillance video of the two kids just before the elderly man was attacked.
"I hate to see anyone in trouble but anyone do something like that they need to be behind bars," said Paul Smallwood's nephew Ricky Scoggins.
The boys were arrested earlier this week. During a court appearance for the 15-year old Thursday, Cobb detectives said Mr. Smallwood was in his apartment when two boys broke in, beat him, and robbed him.
"Mr. Smallwood says someone struck him in the head with a rock. He fell, then they struck him again," said Cobb Police Officer D. L. Ponte, Jr.
Police say they have surveillance video from a Texaco station shortly before the attack showing the suspects riding bicycles heading toward the Smallwood's home.
Police searched the 15-year old's home and say they found a weapon in his room.
"During the execution of a search warrant we located a 410 gauge shot gun under the suspect's bed and mattress," said Ponte.
Police told the court, the teen who was expelled from Sprayberry High School for an incident earlier this year, bragged about detectives finding the gun.
"Sgt. Pluckett of our gang unit advised that this juvenile was bragging on myspace and Facebook that I had just taken a shotgun from under his mattress," said Ponte.
There was no further social networking for this teen since the judge ordered him to remain in juvenile detention rather than be released on house arrest saying he was a threat to the community and himself.
Smallwood is reported to be in stable condition
When you see this in the news:
-”boys” attack and almost kill elderly man.
-Mother says “my boy is a good boy. He would never do anything like this”
-No mention of hate crime.
-Faces not shown on TV
You know immediately that this is a hate crime committed by a minority against a defenseless White person out of motives of pure racial hate.
He and the other thug just wandered in to help the old guy. Tou know the kind of help: helping lighten the weight of carrying around his wallet and cell phone.
Yes, and did you notice the size of the 15 year old “suspect” shown in the video clip? he is a lot bigger than his momma.
Yet another non-hate crime.
His friends would have been carrying a bag out of my yard if he did that to my daughter.
The ‘males’ are around( I wouldn’t call them men ). They are in jail, on probation, or parole, behind a dumpster, DW wif their boyfriends, shacked up with a fat working white girl, or at a bar, or standing in front of a convenience store door, talking s**t with four dollars in their pockets and hundred dollar kicks on de feet.
There is no single American society. This is urban, welfare black....’culture’.

whites, 35 percent of the population, commit less than 2 percent of all shootings.
Black illegitimacy rate in New York is over 78 percent;
the white illegitimacy rate in the city is 7 percent.
The national rate of homicide for black males between the ages of 14 and 17 is ten times higher( 1,000% ) than that of “whites,” into which category the federal government puts the vast majority of Hispanics.

Welfare has taken away all accountability. While I see it and hear it, I still have a problem wrapping my brain around the that we have a large segment of society that has evolved without any conscience. It is really very scary.
Smells like “social justice.”
I'm not sure it's just a lack of conscience. Blacks have been told that they're entitled to special consideration from they day they're born. Not all of them fall for this, but the inner city welfare culture embraces this viewpoint. When your minister (for those who actually go to church), your government, your community "leaders," yo homies, and your momma all constantly tell you that the reason you have nothing is because the whites have it all and that you're entitled to an equal scoreboard (not an equal playing field), then you get the idea that it's OK to just take it.
Criminals have the attitude (just like the government) that what's yours is theirs. So if I have your stuff and your money, then it isn't a crime for you to take it back from me. This is one one of the many reason I despise the phrase "giving back"
I had the same thing happen only it was a woman making an excuse for her daughter. Her daughter demanded to play with two 8 yo boys (one my son) and they said ok. When the little girl again demanded that they do something they didn’t want to do and they refused she threw a fit and kicked my son in the groin and stood there laughing at him. He recovered enough to throw a punch directly to her snout. I witnessed the entire chain of events and when momma came to me and complained that I had to discipline my son for hitting a girl I relayed the story and told her that if her little darling wanted to play with the boys and try to bully them then she should expect to be treated like one of the boys and get punched back. She didn’t like that but finally stomped off when told to piss off. It’s not just boys who do things like that and have their mommas defend them.
At least for those who care. I don't hear of dee revin "hate whitey" Wright yelling out these things from his pulpit.
I get blacks are 15 times more likely to commit hoicie than whites in chicago and 58 times more likely in the east coast's biggest anus.

But where is the empathy? Being told you deserve things is one thing, but to be able to look into the eyes of an elderly person or child, someone or something that is weaker than you and harm them is telling. It would be one thing if it were an anomaly but it is now common.
Good point. There is none. Whites and "the rich" have been blamed for every ill in the black community. Never mind that it isn't the whites who hang around drunk and high screwing every male tht comes through the door just to get pregnant so as to get a bigger welfare check. It isn't whites who beat up other members of their race if they try hard in school and accuse them of acting "too white." It isn't whites who would rather stand in line for three days to sighn up for welfare housing than spend an equal amount of time looking for a job.
How many time have you heard the Democrats say the "rich" aren't paying their fair share? How many times have you heard black community "leaders" stirring up hare and resentment so as to remain in power. (look at the Duke lacross players). How man times have you heard our president stirring resentment against achievement?
When you're raised on hate, envy, and resentment, you have no empathy for the targets of this hate.
'Cause who know who de daddy be, and if known, de daddy knows the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
And how do you stop it? It seems each generation gets worse. The scary part is that they are like feral animals. The welfare state has destroyed basic human instincts. It is the most destructive force facing our country.
There fixed it.
You don't think free people are converted to slaves and serfs directly, overnight, in one generation? It takes time and application( welfare state, destruction of private property and earned rewards/income. )
