Think the auto bailouts are still unpopular? Fifty-four percent (54%) of Americans say they are less likely to buy a General Motors car because the federal government is the automakers majority owner. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just nine percent (9%) say they are more likely to buy a GM car for that reason, while 33% say the governments majority stake in the company has no impact on their purchasing decisions.Twenty-seven percent (27%) say they or someone they know has avoided buying a GM car because of the bailout and government takeover. Fifty-three percent (53%) say

I will not even think of buying a GM car so long as Gooberment is a shareholder.
I was going to replace my current Tahoe with the newer body style. Then Zero came along and laid a big turn in Detroit (and Arlington). Thanks, but no thanks. I’m going to look elsewhere.
I won't buy anything union, until the unions get out of politics and make joining voluntary.
Then Government Motors doubles-down and sends $500,000,000.00 of taxpayer/government money to Mexico for factory expansion and more jobs down there!!!
Well, I would at least hope these people opposed to GM will buy a car made in the USA to help an American family pay their bills.
I will go you one better.
I will not buy a GM car as long as the government or the UAW is a share holder.
I bought a Ford F150 last year.
I have been very pleased with it so far.
Spot on. So long as those two entities are shareholdsers, it is a “no go” for me.
Wait a minute. I thought GM paid back all that money with interest. Seriously. Maybe it was Ford?
Off to Google...
I will never buy a GM car, even if the government is no longer a shareholder. They will never recoup the $50 Billion of taxpayer money that they threw at the unions.
Proud part of that 27%.
DIdn’t we already help those people with billions of bailout dollars, propping up their ridiculously extravagant pension plans with our money?
I thought we did.
I avoid buying GM products because they are GM products.
This whole thing pisses me off.
I bought a Chevy Cobalt in 2006. Best handling car I’ve ever driven - and I’ve had a lot of hot cars. Got some custom wheels and striping for it and my wife actually won a “Coolest Car” trophy at one of the local summer-time drive-in meets.
Before the whole mess happened, I was intent on getting a Cadillac CTS-V to celebrate the beginning of my third mid-life crisis.
Now it’s back to looking for barn finds.
The worst cars I ever had were GM.
Now that the criminals are in charge of GM, I won’t even consider buying a PelosiMobile.
Hard to keep them that long here in Northern Ohio. Road salt is hard on steel and aluminum.
My last truck (1999 F250) lasted 120,000 miles and was costing me about $200 to 300 a month in repairs when I gave up and bought the F150.
I get about 20 mile/gal (summer) 18 mpg (winter) in the new truck which is a far sight better than the 12/10 mpg in the F250.
GM cars are a bad bet because I don’t believe that GM will survive. They will be hard to find parts and service.
Off to Google...
If I remember correctly, your google search will turn up that GM was reported to have paid off that loan, but they did it with another government loan, and they were forgiven part of the debt...so it was just more Obama accounting shuffle to hide the truth. And the government and the unions now own the majority of GM, having stolen it from the previous stock holders.
As others have stated, I will never buy a GM product as long as the federal government owns it's communist share and the union owns their illegally obtained share.
