I wasn’t listening, so I’m not sure. My best guesses would be:
a) to get some $ (e.g., everyone that does that agrees to give $10 or whatever

b) to estimate the # of people there (more than Beck’s, of course/s). They probably have people that aren’t at the rally that will be doing the same thing, thereby skewing actual attendance.
