The FBI has released a video showing the detonation of a prototype of the failed car bomb that was supposed to go off in Times Square in May. Had the device been made correctly, FBI officials say, it would have killed dozens of people and caused 'devastating' damage. Faisal Shahzad, who has admitted to planting the car bomb in a parked SUV on May 1, told investigators that he believed it would have killed about 40 people.

Plus two 25 pound propane cylinders and a pair of 5 gallon gas cans. The FBI technical folks matched what the bastard had in his car. In a place like Times Square at that time of day hundreds could have been killed, more maimed. The shock wave alone would have ripped people apart.

Thanks for posting this. If you had not, it’s highly likely I would not have seen it anywhere in the MSM. Very disturbing. It should be shown on the evening news across the nation, IMO, to drive home the point to the clueless of what we are up against .

And it has an NBC New York logo on the video. I don’t watch NBC, of course. But if they spiked the story, this is pretty damning.

***Fireworks and propane cylinders would not have done that.***

Noel, Missouri had a propane tank car on the KCS railroad explode back about 1968 or 1969.

The blast woke up people thirty miles away in the middle of the night.

It devistated the town and the tourist industry that once kept the town alive.

An Ammonium Nitrate fuel oil explosive will not detonate without a high Order explosive such as TNT, C4, or a Nitroglycerin based dynamite to prime it. An exploding propane cylider will not do it, nor will fireworks or gasoline

No I didn’t miss that part ANFO is pretty hard to set off without a high order explosive attached to it. You need something with a detonation velocity of 20,000 ft/sec or higher to initiate. I made many of those when I was in the service 40 years ago.
